2014 AFL Season - Spoilers Inside

Oh and here's a great quote from Cotchin

“To see one of the greats go down it was a bit of a positive [no one likes to see a player injured but] he’s one of their better players so obviously that’s a plus for us.”

Scum.

Went down to Frankston park today to watch the Dolphins vs Collingwood because Matt Scharenberg was debuting. He came on after half time. He looks like a really good player. Mark Williams said he's the best young talent he's seen since Wayne Carey. Frankston won , pretty good game. Grundy and Fasolo played as well. Dwyer played too , who I thought was best on ground.

Love this twitter exchange between John Ralph of the Herald Sun and Carlton's Mitch Robinson:

John Ralph: Gotta be a link between guys who rate themselves as boxers & whack guys on the field. First Mitch Robinson now Ty Vickery

Mitch Robinson: has to be a link between people who couldn't play sports so resorted to journalism? Sounds familiar?

:-)

Well, since the weekend, I've calmed down a bit...

Got 4 weeks

Fair?

I'm not too bothered, but I was surprised that the general consensus is that its a week or two too short. But I think they say that based on precedence rather than the offence.

4 weeks in the past was just more opportunity to sink piss on the weekend, these days its a lifetime of form.

This is the first time I have seen the incident. I assumed it was contact when going for the ball. That looks more like a straight out sucker punch. No ball in sight. Obviously he felled Cox. Did he take the mark after getting rid of his player. My previous knowledge of Vickery's talent...I would say no....

It was on a boundary throw in. As they backed up to the spot, Cox threw a sneaky elbow to Vickery's chest, which appeared to buckle him but he shot straight back up when the ball was thrown.

The rest is as you see it above, as they watch the ball Vickery swings a fist into Cox's face, and he drops like a sack of cement. Ended up subbed out with concussion. No structural damage in the end.

Well bugger me. Lindsay Thomas has been CLEARED by the match review panel of staging during the third quarter of the North Melbourne vs Geelong game. No reprimand, no fine, no suspension.....nothing.
The MRP decided that because there were hands in the back and a free kick awarded, they couldn't charge him with anything. Apparently this excuses Lindsay Thomas from flying through the air as if launched from a cannon!

And I can't believe Conca can only miss two for the dog shot of all dog shots.

And Merrett! he took two guys heads off (Jetta & Pedersen) in sloppy spoiling attempts, one leaves the field pissing blood and he gets squat.

Stevie J successful in challenging the charge and free to play this weekend.

What really gets me is Robbo is on 360 last night beating the desk going on about how it should never have been cited.

Meanwhile I found his article from last year when he says Embley should get at least a week for his knee on Stratton.

In trouble again with a sly kick to the head of a Freo player while in the middle of a pack. With his record of dirty acts, this just doesn't surprise me and deserves a week. I know the there isn't much force involved but if he keeps getting away with things like this he will keep doing them. He has to get a week, no doubt!

Also staging the head contact to get a free.

Don't make a statement by punishing Thomas, and people will still do it.

The ridiculous thing about the head contact incident was that Johnson had HIS hand around the Fremantle player's neck WHILST he was staging. You will never ever see me criticise a player for missing goals, dropping marks or not putting his head over the footy but at outright cheating, I just can't cop that. It is one of the reasons I no longer have any interest in soccer.

The game against Adelaide last week wouldn't have meant squat if the Eagles didn't back it up like they did today.

Two great wins

Roughie given a week for tripping. I understand rules are rules, just wish the rules applied to all players regardless of the team they play for :cautious:
