2014 AFL Season - Spoilers Inside

Geez north Melbourne are a frustrating side not sure what brad Scott is doing but how he can get them up to beat the top 4 sides, but not beat Brisbane and other sides they should beat has got me stuffed they should be beating up on lower sides and improving there percentage, just seems there a bit mentally weak to me

Yep Nick, North played really well. As a Hawks member I was worried about the game all week - under the roof, they were far too quick by foot and with their ball movement.

As @Festa1234 said, who'd have thought that North would beat Sydney in Sydney, Fremantle in Perth, West Coast in Perth, Port Adelaide and Hawthorn yet lose to lower-ranked sides.

Still, it's good for footy so I'm not complaining.

Tremendous win for the Suns, no bench for the last quarter and still hold off Collingwood. New crowd record as well.

Sucks for Cairns next week though, good chance Gaz won't be playing.

There might be 4-5 wins left for the Suns, which would take them to 13 or 14 wins for the season and probably 7th or 8th spot. They are such an exciting team to watch, Metricon might eventually become the stronghold that Subiaco once was to the Eagles or the Adelaide Oval is for Port Adelaide.

Sucks for Ablett but atleast it makes the Brownlow race a little more exciting. Was so great to see Clinton Young drop the easiest of marks right in front with 1:30 left on the clock. As a Hawks supporter I really don't like him, he might have cost us a grand final in 2012 with how soft he is and how easily he went to ground and now has lost Collingwood this game tonight. Made me smile :D

Yet more umpiring controversy over the weekend, highlighted by the non-free kick against Angus Monfries for holding the ball. I am convinced that the umpires are being encouraged to adjudicate to a "philosophy" rather than the actual rule book so that the game looks and flows better as a spectacle although this has been at the expense of the actual bloody rules!

Longmire pulling a Bucks having moan that his million dollar forward isn't getting silver service from the umps.

Maybe if he ran a lead instead of locking up with the defender he would have been more effective.

You can't help but wonder what Gary's total Brownlow medal votes tally would be if he played the entire season.

A quick snap-shot of his season, round-by-round:

41 disposals, 2 goals
24 disposals
38 disposals, 3 goals
35 disposals, 1 goal
32 disposals, 2 goals
30 disposals, 2 goals
28 disposals, 4 goals
37 disposals, 4 goals
24 disposals
25 disposals, 2 goals
37 disposals, 1 goal
33 disposals
33 disposals, 1 goal
45 disposals, 2 goals
19 disposals (injured)

Disapointing now for the suns younger players to step up and guide them to the finals

The thing is I distinctly remember 2012 Rounds 5 (North Melbourne - 34pt loss) & 6 (Freo - 7pt loss), where they played better without Gaz, after they got spanked in Round 1 (Adelaide - 69pt loss), Round 2 (St Kilda - 92pt loss) and Round 4 (Brisbane - 65pt loss).

Round 3 (Essendon - 17pt loss) is about the only game in that stretch with Gaz involved where they didn't suffer a heavy defeat.

He then came back in Round 7, where they lost to GWS!

Fast forward to 2014 and no one should believe that Gary is carrying this team. For my money they should still start favourites in their next 4 games, will still make the 8.

I'm really hoping Fyfe becomes the third ineligible winner. Because the way it is now, with what Franklin got away with, he never should have been suspended in the first place.

anyone think he could still win?

even if he averaged 2 on the bolded games - still gets him 24 votes.
The winner had
2008 - 24
2009 - 30
2010 - 30
2011 - 34
2012 - 30
2013 - 28
