Which Stats Are Better ?

Lebron will probably never be as "fun" to watch as MJ in a basketball purist sense. He will probably never have the same basketball IQ as MJ. But it wouldnt surprise me to see him win as many championships and sketch out a decorated career. The league has never seen a player as good as LBJ at the age of 21. I personally don't enjoy watching him play all that much but I can't deny the talent and potential that the guy has. Let's just wait and see.

Dont be blinded by MJ's amazing feats. He had exceptional supporting players who do not receive the praise they deserve.

LOL your saying he'll win 6 rings?? yet shaq/kobe couldn't win 6, the houston rockets of the 90's couldnt even win 3, yet Lebron in all his wisdom and grace will win at least 6?

Go back in time and say that Jordan would go on with the bulls and win 6 rings and you would get the same response you just gave JJ. We will just have to wait and see. It COULD happen.

Dude, you have lost the plot!

Scottie Pippen - HOFer, Top 50 greatest players
Ron Harper - Legitimate 20+ ppg player on any other team
Brian Williams - Ridiculously talented (but troubled) PF who signed cheap just to be in a winning programme
Dennis Rodman - HOFer
Horace Grant - Massively underated defender. One of the best post defenders the league has seen.
Steve Kerr - 3 point champion (not sure?)
John Paxman - 3 point champ
etc.

If assembled in their prime, coached by Jackson and surrounded by legends like Parish, no team in the NBA today could touch these guys. Jordan was a great player on a great team. Don't forget that.

houston only went back to back mavs man

94 - 95

* its john paxson not john paxman, and he was not any type of allstar, a straight shooter was pretty much it

* scottie pippen - understandable
* ron harper - well beyond his early days, but a steady player
* brian williams was only there for 1997 not earlier or more than that
* dennis rodman - enough said
* horace grand - was never ever under rated
* kerr - mad bomber
* forgetting toni kukoc?

but lets venture back to cliff levingston days.. thats right, who??? scott williams??? trent tucker??? bj armstrong.. good player in his days.. but 1991??? bill cartwright.. not bad.. will perdue??? corey williams??? rodney mccray??? jojo english??? darrell walker??? jordan had alot of hacks around him, but managed to make the first round alot of the time..

anyways thats not the point..
lebron has hughes/marshall/the big Z and the list can go on..thats more talent than what mj had, yet mj lead his team to bigger/better things.. even in the early days without pippen and co.. he made the playoffs

by his 2nd year they made the playoffs.. even 86 they made the playoffs
do you want to know the shit list that was on those sides? 87 same story.. PLAYOFFS.. look at the key word can you spell playoffs lebron?
and from there on they didnt miss the playoffs.. and to think pippen showed up in 1987.. so whats that.. 2 years off playoffs pre-pippen and any kind of support.. think of what your saying here.. your breathing lebron james and michael jordan in the same breath.. YOU CANNOT DO THAT!!

i'd go back in time and say that no problems... after his rookie year you knew that he'd be the man the nba would be wrapt around.. lebron just doesnt do that.. he's a great player yes.. this league is deep, and deep of stars, do you see the "cleveland cavs" going anywhere in the playoffs and beating a western conference team, let alone an eastern conference team?

I think what will hurt LBJ is that nowadays in the NBA you have to win now, not as much grace period is given to develop a team together and gel.

Jordan was given time, the last few championship teams have been together consistently for the most part for several years together, spurs, pistons(not sheed), lakers.

Looking at the cavs the only mainstays really are hughes, LBJ, RONALD 'FLIP' MURRAY and maybe Varejao (spelling unsure)

LBJ is only 21 and logging way too many mins carrying a pretty average team, he needs time to win, players to grow with and trust and most importantly time to grow into a man. He's just a kid, imagine how good he'll be in 3 yrs if he's not burnt out

White chocolate, thanks for correcting my typo. :)

When Jordan was 21, he entered his first year of NBA basketball. His team recorded 11 more wins than it did the previous year, scrapping into the playoffs with a 38-44 record before being dumped in the first round.

At the same age, Lebron is set to take the CAVs to the playoffs. He has also received accolades such as All Star MVP (MJ scored 7 points in his first AS game).

The fact is that MJ was not as good as Lebron at the same age.

I like how you say:

"lebron has hughes/marshall/the big Z and the list can go on.."

Hughes is terrible. A product of a no defense, every man for himself Washington team. A shit bastard and I would take BJ Armstrong over him in a heart beat. Who the hell is Marshall? The big Z is the only decent piece they have and he's hardly enough to make them a decent team. The list can go on.... I'm waiting. Are you going to throw Damon Jones at me? :P

At the same age, Lebron is set to take the CAVs to the playoffs.

but dont foget he's been in the league for 3 years now 82 games a year compared to what 30 odd if he was in college playing ncaa games. alot more time to work on his game and at a higher level. both have good sides to either arguement but 6 rings? as is i cant see it but you never know cavs might pickup late draft picks that fire like ginobli to add a bit of fire power to the team

Who the hell is Marshall
he'd be talking about donyell marshall, great 3 point shooter held record for most 3pts ers scored in a game. but to inconsisent to be a semi-star

i havent quite mastered the art of looking into the future but this is for certain the cavs can only get better as long as lbj stays in town

Jordan was/is the greatest player ever to grace the game and step onto the court..

1997/1998 karl malone/john stockton.. he beat these guys, even with the jazz owning home court in 1998, utah was a place to fear in those days.. he beat them being sick even...
QUOTE]

that gm 5 i think it was(or was it 6) with MJ being sick was/is easily the greatest game i will see in my lifetime, i'd be very surprised if I ever see something better on a basketball court...

Duck
Most people would argue the opposite. That MJ was in a better position to have an impact since the college situation teaches the basics/fundamentals blah blah.

LBJ owns MJ at the same point in their careers. I haven't heard one founded argument to dispute this.

Let's bump this post in 10 years time.

I hope LBJ goes on to greatness, I'd be happy if he got a couple of rings, 6 would be near impossible in today's NBA.

I hope he doesn't burn out, HEAVY mins he's logging for a 21yr old

ok jimmy.. lets just say lbj is as good, or better than jordan... or at least in the same league.. even though mj would school the shit out of lebron and any of his team mates alone..

even though jordan proved he's the best player to ever grace the game not only by me, or his fans, but by magic johnson, isiah thomas and the likes of those players.. bill russell even said this im quite sure, as well as bill walton... but who am i to say..

i cannot beleive this is even a discussion, i take it you where too young to watch any jordan games , or jordan at his best (jordan at his best wasnt just 30 points ppg..)

whats lebrons playoff high? oh wait.. sorry..
and i like how you say lbj is leading his cavs to the playoffs.. well maybe cos theirs no teams like the magic/knicks/pacers/hornets that mj had to face in his day.. regular season or playoffs.. no players like ewing/starks/oakleigh/penny hardaway/shaq/reggie miller/isiah thomas/joe dumars/mark price/mark jackson etc..

and im sure lebron wont be running into the likes of john stockton/karl malone/magic johnson/james worthy/charles barkely/kevin johnson/clyde drexler/terry porter/shawn kemp/gary payton etc.. go lebron.. all hail lebron the next michael jordan.. im sure you'll go far and win 6 finals mvps, regular season mvps, scoring crowns, dunk comp champion, all defensive, all nba blah blah blah..

well actually, jordan didnt burn out, so why would "air lbj".. but i agree, he's carrying a pretty bad team thats over acheiving.. good players, just no chemistry.. lets see how long he lasts... maybe like penny "the next jordan" hardaway.. jerry "the next jordan" stackhouse.. kobe "the next jordan" bryant..(though this guy has suceeded.. closest thing to.. though he hasnt got 6 rings has he? he's got a better team, and he played with a guy named shaq.. but wait.. lbj will have a better team, and a better sidekick than shaq..)

jordan is the greatest simply becoz he will score on any place on the court.(jumper,3-point,lay-ups,freethrows and dunk) also wid the ability to get the open man when his getting double-team. but this is not the reason why he is the greatest but becoz he change himself to be a better defender. he was one of the best defender in the nba and this made him a very unique player. kobe needs learn this basic fundamental to be in the same sentence as jordan.

jordan dominated at will.. turned it on when it counted.. played like a superstar in his 30's... mastered the fadeaway, mastered defense, he could do it all.. he challenged his team mates to lift.. and was never booed by his home crowd..

the only thing jordan has in common with lbj, is that he was schooled by kobe bryant... but jordan was old, and with a poor wizards team.. a team jordan himself couldnt lift, but thats different.. that wasnt michael jordan.. i admit that was a poor decision to come back with that team.. jordan still worked miracles with the wizards.. lifting them to win as many games as they did.. cos that was a 10+ winning team right there..
