Things that piss me off

I didn't even last 3 months. And in that time I was buying singles every other day. There could be worse things to be addicted to.

Edit: This is the worst addiction.

Getting bent over with overpriced worthless junk wax. Paid $420 for this box of Upper Deck hockey and got less than $20 worth of cards. Probably $10 worth if you sold all the cards - most of which sell for $0.02 - $0.05 on COMC. It's a massive scam these days. Hockey wax has gone from best value for money to close to worst value within 4 years. Best card of the box goes for $1.5 on COMC. Greedy scumbags.

Glad I didn't keep this sealed for Christmas.

Maybe I got the CT Scanner treatment. There is a 1 million bounty card in this product. Half of the product run has probably already been scanned before it gets to stores, and if not, perhaps it gets done at the store. Who knows? What I do know is there are zero money men in the hobby who I would trust.

Looking to sell my junk and get into a bit of 4x4 and camping. It'll be more rewarding
Are you sure that's it for you.Honestly you would be one of the most entertaining people on this site. I really enjoy reading all the things you have to say.But on the other side of what you said,I have a friend who loves going camping with his family and the stories and places he tells me about are fascinating. Good luck with your new venture. 👍🙂

It's it for collecting, but not it for me on this site. I still enjoy the theory of the hobby and am interested in it. I just don't want to be spending the money I was unless it's something awesome.

I'm doing it in small doses now. What I always should have done
smart move Lou..
everyone needs to find there avenue in the hobby, hope you find yours
we all love cards, but they are not the all and everything -
i personally have spent more cash on physical media (movies) this year then cards.
have had a ball obtaining and collecting blu ray's and 4k movies- the drop in price is very much welcomed.
find that happiness with the 4 wheel driving mate!

It's easy to go full tilt. It's an addictive pursuit - and expensive if you can't control the fomo. I would like to do what you are doing. Sell most of it and keep a few special items which for me is sentimental rather than expensive as my most expensive card is not even $1000.

Good luck buddy. Sincerely.

If you really wanted this card for your collection.........then really doesn't matter what you paid you have one now!

Buy another one cheaper and that will bring down the average cost of your first one down by a bit! 🤑
I took your advice and I bought 2 more at $13.5. But just like that another 3 copies appeared at $14 something, lol. There's vendors probably sitting on hundreds of these but they are trying to control supply which is a common theme on comc. I can see this card going to $5 raw which is a worry given how talented he is. Also the price makes little sense when the you probably only get one of these every 3 or so boxes and the boxes cost $24 Euro. The maths doesn't add up.

I now own 3 copies at $18~ a pop.

I also bought a 2018-19 Vinicius Junior Megacracks in PSA8 for $150AUD on ebay. The card was only $68USD but postage and customs duty and shitty exchange rate took it up there. This kid is still only 24, was runner up in European footballer of the year last year, and he must have 10% of the cards Lamine Yamal has.

That's a significant factor in this second junk wax era.

It's going to take forever to sell everything. I'll never be truly out

This is the battle I'm in. After getting creamed on that box of hockey poo and spending $70 on 4 breaks which did not net even net one card I sent money to comc to make fomo purchases and then went over my CC limit to buy a soccer card on ebay. And all this with Christmas around the corner. I will now have to sell some cards that I wanted to keep.

Hope to see you on the other side. In control and enjoying it.

I went through it in 2015 (I think.. might have been later). 3 years of blowing my pay on dacardworld orders, mostly hockey, a fair bit of MMA, and the odd NASCAR, NFL and entertainment. Just woke up one day in dismay at the clutter and sheer waste of money, driven by FOMO and probably something not to dissimilar from gambling addiction.

A lot of it got packed away into tubs, some of it got binned in a moment of madness, and just stayed away until late last year.

Now I just pick up the odd single, and if I buy a box its either because its a curiosity (ie Sumo) or because its a nice looking base set I want to complete (Stadium Club baseball).
