Yeah I'm Kiwi.

I think the midfield will cope fine this season, i think we'll start like this:

VDS
Evra Vidic Evans Rafael
Giggs/ Nani Fletcher Scholes Valencia
Rooney Berbatov

Giggs: Last season, getting to old.
Scholes: See above
Fletcher: Average, not good enough to start as a central midfielder for United.
Valencia: Like him, only young, but not a starter IMO. I would play him as a sub.
Where's Carrick?
All the other top premier league teams have at least one star in their midfield, ie:
Arsenal: Fabregas
City: Silva, Toure.
Chelsea: Essien, Lampard.
Liverpool: Cole, Mascherano
Tottenham: Lennon, Modric

News is getting better for Liverpool. Torres has announced he is staying and we are likely to get taken over by a Chinese billionaire. Looks as if we can strengthen our squad afterall! His injury is not serious. Just a groin. At least its not the same hamstring injuries he was having last season. You guys better watch out. The liverpool machine is building!!!!

oh please machine lol. i am going to go for ManC this season i think. i used to be an arsenal fan but there just not the same these days, maybe tottenham

Chinese billionaire news is very interesting. If that goes thru (I think they do a 10 day owner background check after what happened to poor Portsmouth!) it'll be amazing for u guys!
As for Torres - Just a groin?? They take ages to heal - u ever pulled your groin??:lol:
Is it a different injury to the WC one?? I thought he did his hammy in the WC.

OH YES the machine is starting to build. It is the same as the WC injury which was a groin from what i heard, which was estimated to be a 4 week injury at most. Aurelio has also been resigned after numbnuts rafa let him go. I think people underestimate the Joe cole signing. He will give us that creativity in the midfield we lost when alonso left. Bring it on i say!

i forgot to say this chinese billionaire is the same guy who bought a stake in the Cavs last season so i think we are safe :D

torres did his knee before the WC im 90% sure.

yeah he hurt it and missed the end of the season for Liverpool. He didn't 'do it' as such like an ACL or anything. Of course it will take time for him to come back into form but if the guy can score 20 goals in a season like last then watch out when he's fully fit!

ok fair enough

not sure about this machine... Torres is great when he's fit, but Gerrard getting on a bit and Cole similar style to Benayoun (although Cole is a better player in my opinion), but Benayoun (I don't know how to bloody spell his name!) a few years younger... Cole great signing on a free though.

If Torres and Gerrard get injured, what happens then? I don't think Liverpool have improved their squad enough to do better than the 7th they came last season, although they could scrape into a Champions League spot if things go their way. BUT if they get bought by this billionaire, who knows?

wow.

From that it seems you don't watch United play.

Fletcher- average?? I honestly think he was a shining light for us last season, he played well and scored a couple of braces if i recall right.

Carrick looked off form in the latter part of the season (probably why he didn't make the WC Squad) so out of my starting team for now.

And Valencia is 25, should see plenty of first team starts for him this season. Definitely one of United's best buys in a while, at Wigan he wasn't great but SAF must have seen a spark in him and look how he has turned out.

Agreed - don't have the deepest squad. Gerrard was poor by his standards last year - how was he at the WC? - no better. Torres is coming back from multiple injuries and didn't exactly look the goods at the end of the season OR at the WC. Cole is a good player but as u said Dinga - so was Benayoun - I rated him and wouldn't have minded him coming to City.

As well as Fletcher, Carrick and Valencia, we also have Park Ji-Sung, Owen Hargreaves, Scholes, Giggs, Nani and Anderson. They are all worthy opponents for any team.

Seems more setbacks for Schwarzers proposed move to Arsenal. Although only a short term fix to the Gunners GK problems, really hope this goes through (been holding back ordering a new shirt). New Fulham gaff Mark Hughes reckons they are in a position where they don't have to sell their best players, which is fair enough. Any club would want to keep their best players. Now I'm probably biased, but, for a guy whos 38 and in the twilight of his career, has played in Europe for years and the Premier League for about 15 years, I say let him join a big club now he's been given the opportunity. And, reportedly, The Arsenal have offered him a coaching role also... Would be a great end to his playing career, with a plum job to go on with...

yeah good win this morning, not much competition but still a good win.

If any one didn't catch it League of Ireland XI 1 Man United 7

Good goals from some, Park's first was a fluke!

Winston Reid - All Whites defender signs for West Ham - great for him!! That must be why someone voted for the hammers!!!
