Well that wraps it up!

didn't Aquilani go and isn't Mascherano most likely to be sold for 25-30 million?

No Aquilani is still there, Fabio Aurelio has left, Alberto Reira has signed with Olympiacos, Insua is of to Italy, Mascherano wants to follow Benetiz, So all up Liverpool have no left back at all, will need to buy 2 at least.. Torres should stay, i can't see him leaving this season, maybe next season if they have another crap season and theYanks are still around...

didn't Aquilani go and isn't Mascherano most likely to be sold for 25-30 million?

Roy Hodgson has come out in the last 24 hours stating that Torres has told him he wants to stay... Seeings as Hodgson got Gerrard to publically state that he wants to stay at Anfield, not sure why Torres is keeping quiet on the matter?

That's Luke not Ashley right??

Warney - I hope he ships Robinho - too lazy, Santa Cruz, Garrido, Jo, a couple of the goalies they don't need and loan out Caicedo, they have lots of young and english talent so will fill the quotas in the end...

wow!

Manchester United 5
-Macheda 1', 12'
-Gibson 70'
-Cleverley 74'
-HERNANDEZ!!! 84'

MLS All Stars 2

I'm stoked to see such a young team demolish a team with some stars in it, and it looked brilliant!

If we play like that without Carrick, Rooney, Berbatov, Evra, Vidic etc.. we will be unstoppable! (Well i hope so:razz:)

just bumping this one up, Season starts in just over a fortnight now.

I know it's always good to see your team doing well, even in pre-season. Not too sure about the quality of the MLS side though. Remembering they are all US based players, but would of been a stern test for a young side. Not too sure how Man U are going at the moment, at least the result was a good turn around from the 2-1 loss to the mighty Kansas City Wizards the other day=D>

Preseason really means nothing. Managers are mixing guys around, giving fringe players burn time. I think you're better off not getting excited about any of the results. United scored after 20 seconds the other day and they didn't kick off!

I'd be interested to know how many guys in the poll just picked their team or whether they actually believe that their team will win the EPL.

I see Liverpool have 6 votes! That's a lot for a team that came 7th last year. I can understand Chelsea and ManU fans picking their team as they are legitimate contenders. Same with Arse fans (?) but would love to hear an argument from a Reds fan as to why Liverpool are gonna win the title with the thin squad they have.

I love my team Man City but I didn't vote for them. I reckon they'll be ready next year for a crack at the title. I'm not saying they can't win it but I don't think they will.

Liverpool fans let's hear u!!!!

yeah i know mate, it's like the AFL Preseason that no one gives a crap about.

I think most people voted for their teams but for me i actually think United will win it.. More transfer News for this Morning:

David James joins Bristol City
Sami Khedira joins Real Madrid
Balotelli agrees to Personal Terms, official signing just around the corner..

I don't know what to think of City this year, are they a threat or not?

City only lost about 7 games in the league last year, 2 gutwrenchers to Utd, 2 to Spurs, 2 to Everton and one other. Under Hughes we drew a LOT of winnable games. When Mancini came in we started winning those games and moved from 10th to 5th. English media don't talk about that cos Hughes is a favourite...Now he has his own players and has had an offseason to plan. I am expecting big things.

If your cup is half empty about City though currently, they have too many players (Garrido sold this morning, others will follow), will implode because guys will sulk over game time and they haven't played with each other so they'll take a while to come good....Mancini is a strong character - he won't take sulking - he put Tevez in his place end of last year which was great - our biggest star told to pull his head in - it sent a message that we work hard or u can piss off.

I think a slow start (we have Spurs away then Liverpool at home) or more injuries to our defence might mean we come 3rd but I'd love it if we did better than that.

Personally I think they'll be challenging Arse or Man Utd for 3rd spot. I think Man U are a Rooney injury away from trouble - just as I thought Liverpool were a Torres injury away from trouble (Torres got injured - they came 7th). I know ManU have other strikers but not another 25 goal season striker. SAF, as much as he is a moaning ref chewing *****, is a fantastic manager and overachieved last year I thought. 11 own goals for Man U helped as well!!!

Chelsea are pretty much the same except Cole and Ballack - 2 benchwarmers are gone - I think they'll be very tough to beat again. They scored over 100 goals last year - that's nuts.

Arsenal - I expect a lot of moaning about City this year from Wenger as we run them close. I can't wait for the season to start to see what sort of lineup Mancini puts out and I can't wait for Balotelli to come. Has a reputation for being hotheaded and brilliant (Cantona anyone??)

I believe we have players who can score goals (15+) if Rooney wasn't around (through injury). I reckon Hernandez, Berbatov and Macheda can fill the gap if Rooney is out. And what about our midfield? Last season's goalscorers for Man United

Rooney- 26
Berbatov- 12
Giggs- 5
Valencia- 5
Fletcher- 4
Nani- 4
Carrick- 3
Owen- 3
Park- 3
Scholes -3
Gibson- 2
Anderson-1
Macheda- 1
Diouf- 1
O'Shea- 1
Vidic- 1

You will see that teams like City have a chunk of their goalscorers up the top of the list (3 or 4) but are none down the list scoring 5 and 6 goals a season. If these top guys get injured then where do they get there goals from?

You're dead right - I can only find a top 5 but the spoils aren't shared as United's are.

Tevez 23
Ade 14 (in about half a season)
Bellers 10
SWP 4
Petrov (who's been sold) 4
Santa Cruz 3
City have been lacking goals from midfield - there were plenty from the front and wingers - remember Adam Johnson was excellent at the end of the year.
Mancini has signed David Silva from Spain and also Yaya Toure to help play the box to box 'Keane' roll for the team. Stephen Ireland scored 10 or so from midfield the year before so maybe he'll get back in favour.

My point is this - If Ade goes down or Tevez goes down we still have a 20 goal scorer and wingers who'll score plenty. Will United have that?? I know they'll have Hernandez (who's unproven in the EPL) and Machedo (who was patchy at the end of the year) - I may be wrong but I don't think they're in the top draw of EPL strikers.

To put it bluntly - I just think they'd struggle without Rooney. They're probably better equipped to cover an injury to him better than Liverpool were covering Torres last year I'll give u that...

i think our midfield is doing well enough at the moment, they are scoring goals which is handy. Remember Macheda didn't get much first team football and is only 19, i think with more games come more goals this season. And i hope Owen can play an uninterrupted season.

The chances of Owen playing an uninterrupted season are about as good as Accrington Stanley winning the FA Cup. nothing wrong with Man U's midfield when Anderson isn't playing.
