Where will Judd land?

Just saw this on another forum. Don't think it'll happen but I can still dream!

West Coast are considering a radical plan to keep Chris Judd which would allow the Brownlow Medalist to live in Melbourne and fly to Perth for home games. Shocked

CEO Trevor Nisbett said the club was looking at ways to retain Judd in 2008 as the battle for his signature intensified yesterday.

There are two recent precedents for players living interstate while playing in the AFL. carlton premiership player Andrew McKay and Adelaide ruckman Matthew Clarke continued to play for there respective clubs while living in Queensland.

Judd who would have to follow an unusual training regime, said this week he would've signed a 10-year deal if the club was based in Victoria.

Nisbett also said West Coast wouldn't accept a second-rate trade deal for Judd and the Eagles were prepared to go to great lengths to maintain their strong list.

Hawks are out of the running too and I thnk I am actually happy about that as Judd has proved himself an arse not wanting to meet with the team that helped him play an extra game this year. it's all good for a Hawk to lie for him but not all good to speak with them. wanker. good footballer, but a wanker none the less.

Right and it was Judd's decision for Brown to lie for him? Come AJ, you're acting like a Collingwood supporter!

But he thanked him and didn't bother offering any financial suppor tto Brown - Judd wanted to get off he would have made that clear.

He shows his appreciation by dissing the club. I'm sorry but while you may have pre conceived ideas... you should still meet with a club. Tho if he would be happy to play with the east coast eagles and their drug issues I don't see why playing at Hawthorn would be any different lol It just bugs me that he is passing judgement without even meeting the club.

I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the club, but more-so the location of your club. As I have mentioned before, his school was halfway between your clubs base and the city, and he had to board there, so I don;t see it as any coincidence at all that he's chosen clubs close to the city/in the city/closer to the other side of the city where I presume his family is.

But thats not really a big thing.... the same city is close enough to family... I really do think its because of the drug rumours.... and thats hypocritical if it is... I hope he stays with the Eagles as a travelling player.

That's whole point. You're club is not in the city. It's an 45min-hour drive out into the eastern suburbs. If you were still at Glenferrie, you'd be well and truely in the running I reckon. Arguably St. Kilda, Richmond and the Doggies all being closer/in the city should have more issues with 'why not us?'.

i still dont think thats the problem Ben...

45 mins is nothing...WHere are his family based?

Not sure exactly, but guessing western side of the city since Malvern was too far from his home to have him live at home and go to school.

Yeh but thats when he was at school with no car, etc....i dont think where Hawthorn are based would be an issue...even with Geelong a lot of the players live in melb and travel down for training...

Had thought of that...but was looking for some sort of explanation other than...Guess he just doesn;t like Hawthorn then! haha

He owes the Hawks nothing and rightly so. He can say and do as he pleases but from past trades we know it does't always end up the way the player wants anyway. Plenty of examples of that the last decade or more.

How is it hypocritical not going to Hawthorn when he is leaving a drug culture team behind??

The drive out to Waverly sucks and the Dee's train a lot closer right in town and soon will have a state of the art facility :-D

i would love to have him at bomerland, second choice would be the dees as my g/f supports them:lol:but we will never know why he chooses to go to in the end,it will stay at its because of his family, which i thinks great,i say we trade lloyd hes only got a couple years in him,and we need some pace in our guts...just my 2c

cheers

And to add to the Dees scenario:

Not only did he support us but

1. We train at his old school
2. He played for Sandringham under 18s, our VFL club
