Well if we purely base it on value here are my 5

1. 2005 Tradition Tupou Sig
2. 2000 R Gasnier Sig
3. 2009 Lockyer Captain Sig
4. 2004 Johns Captain Sig
5. Another captain sig - Menzies/Tallis/Thurston maybe

Honorable mention to Beetson Immortal sig

If we're being serious and un-biased (and this is a topic of the upmost importance and seriousness), like the original post asked for, then that'd be my top four. Fifth would be either Beetson 2008 or Fittler 2004.

The list of three Lockyer's and a Tallis is sadly at this stage just a beautiful dream.

Owen list is spot on. Although if we are being one eyed idiots.

Ill go

1 gower 2004
2 girdler all star
3 wesser sig
4 gordon sig
5 luke lewis future force

The most expensive list considering recent sales
2012 Darren Lockyer 1 of 76 signature card $2000
2005 Tradition Tupou signature redemption $1600
2000 Reg Gasnier Legend Redemption $1500
2009 Darren Lockyer Captains redemption $1500
2004 Andrew Johns captain signature Redemption $1400
These are the stand out most expensive cards that I have seen on Various sites listed and sold
Roughly Listed and sold individually as a grand total for the lot, about $8000

I am saying sorry to all the guys i had a go at today , stupid me.... I had a super bad day at work yesterday and i went abit crazy on this forum....

Bro that 2012 Lockyer Broncos signature card was the 1st number one card i have ever seen for sale , so whoever got that little gem is sitting on a gold mine.... On sales it should be in everyones top 5 Select signature card list....

I took the question to mean which series of cards, not an individual card itself. If we're talking the single most valuable card, then whoever has the Andrew Johns captain sig #7 is doing pretty well.

My biased list:

Milton Thaiday Top Prospect 2006
Anthony Quinn Future Force 2004
Matt White Top Prospect 2005
Likiliki Top Prospect 2011
Stig Top Prospect 2012

Some sensational cards in there.

Just because some Queenslander paid $2000 for that Lockyer #1 signature card does not automatically mean that's it value.

Plenty of very high end collectors agreed that was a moronic price to pay for that card.
You could be right owen there was a few others would have paid a similar price just underneath that bid I guess they have a lot of money and don,t know what to do with it. Still they own the no. 1 card and you cannot take that away from them. Any true collector would not be a collector if they said that it would not be nice to own. Bagging people that pay good money for cards is not a very smart thing for the industry and we should be commending them for their collections and inspiring them to collect. If people keep doing this they will cause damage to the market and industry and thats no good for anyone who collects. I think some people should pull there head in as I believe no one in this industry can know everything.

I called the price moronic not the collector.

You cannot say that the price is moronic without offending a buyer of a card that is a short cut to thinking. I hope the owner enjoys it and I personally think that it would have been a nice investment to make. Wish I could have been able to afford it.

There's the issue. If the greedy card companies keep shutting out the average collector in the search for the almighty dollar there ain't gonna be anyone left in the hobby in a decade. They will shut people out.

Back on topic though. .....

Everyone mentions the 2008 Beetson. Why does the 2005 Benetton Sig not get similar love?

If a certain collectible gets dearer it will only mean that it will only be bought by a richer person It will never loose its value. I think what you mean if the card companies over supply or demand a higher price for cards that are not worth the money. As a collectible should be something that is not over supplied and be limited to a number as to retain its value as if it does not it is not worth collecting.
