The Official SAN ANTONIO SPURS thread

Looks like tomorrow's game will possibly be the decider as to who we will get in the first round!

If the Jazz beat Phoenix, it is all over for the Suns and we will get Utah in round 1!

Actually we could still be facing Dallas, if Dallas lose @ Atlanta and Utah win v Portland, we'll get Dallas in the first round, i think

Just like to give a big thanks to Harsha for my awesome signature, very big thank you to you mate!

(Thought this would be a good thread to post my thanks, since its obviously very Spurs orientated)

Has anyone seen him play in person? I caught him at a game in Brisbane playing for the AIS before he went to college, he was tiny but the quickest by far on the court. His finishing around the hoop with big men in ridiculous. Now he has the shot too.

Tough.

Not in person, but a few of the NBL games earlier this year! I know it is a different view from the TV cameras, bit there was still no doubting his speed!

Definately a Bargain of a pickup! Who knows, he might be the Steve Kerr this year and come on for a few minutes and pick up some valuable points!

Also, anyone know anything about Derrick Byers? Just read a little bit, but no idea what he is like! Getting a few minutes today and yesterday. Apparently he was just signed yesterday morning.

It says he is a 2007 Pick by the Blazers and has spent time with OKC amongst others and was signed by the bulls in 09??

Alright fellas! Some interesting stats/points for you!

The Spurs now officially hold the record for the most consecutive 50+ win seasons!

In 98/99 There was a lockout season as well which reduced the number of games to 50 in total. The Spurs went 37-13 to finish 1st in the West and as we all know, they beat the Knicks to the Championship that year. Then, in the 99/00 season, they won more than 50 games in the regular season and have done it EVERY SEASON SINCE.
At the end of last year, they equaled the Lakers' record of 12 consecutive 50+ win seasons but when the lockout was announced, it looked like the Lakers were going to remain at the top of the list.

Well, with Patty Mills' huge effort again the Warriors, they got their 50th win of the season out of 66 games!!!!!!! And took the record for the most consecutive 50+ games to 13.

Also, the Impact of Timmy!

Since the day Tim Duncan came to the Spurs, the Franchise has been Unstoppable!

The 99 Spurs team has the 2nd best turnaround in NBA History. They went 20-62 in 96/97 (Robinson was out) and then in 97/98 (With both TD and DRob healthy) they went 56-26, a 365 game increase on the previous year!!

But the most impressive stat!

From the day Tim Duncan started with the Spurs, up until now, no team in the NBA, NFL or NHL has a better win/loss record! So I mean the OVERALL win/loss % from 97 up until now is better than any team in any of the 3 codes!
Impressive hey?

Just a couple of cool stats that show just how good POP and the team is!!

They went 20-62 in 97/98 (Duncan was in but Robinson was out) and then in 98/98 (With both healthy)

Just to clarify, Duncan never had a losing year. In 97/98 the Spurs won 56 games with T.D as a rookie.

The year before they stank with D. Rob out therefore grabbing the no.1 pick.

T.D is the king.

My bad! Bit scrambled with the seasons ;)

All fixed!

Knew about most of those stats, having never missed the playoffs and biggest single season turn around etc, but didn't know the 50+ wins per season stat though.

Cant be disputed, best team in the past 15 years. I remember in the mid 90's all my mates followed the Bulls, Hornets, Magic. I had to put up with the Bulls, Jazz and Rockets beating the Spurs all the damn time, i was always constantly reminded how bad the Spurs were, back then i didn't even know a single person who also followed the Spurs.

Funny now none of those mates even really follow the NBA anymore, surprise surprise.
