The Official SAN ANTONIO SPURS thread

I must say, I'm starting to get nervous. In to the next round now and momentum is building. A bit of talk that the Spurs are for real this year. That is not how they like it.

Clips are looking very good for getting through to play Spurs. That series has a few twists still though I think.

Hopefully their depth will see them struggle against the Men In Black.

Who would you rather have to face LA or Memphis? I'm thinking LA, but mainly because of the last time we had to face Memphis in the playoffs.

spurs are much healthier this year... should beat either team they face and their roster is quite deep... so many guys who just buy into pops system and play their role for the greater good of the team, thats how you build championship teams

the only concern would be early in series as they would have had 7-10 days rest between series and can potentially be a touch rusty

Great talk, I must say, I don't like the Spurs are talked about though, would much rather everyone saying they can't do it. OKC will be TOUGH. Hopefully it's an amazing series, which I think it will be.

I hope spurs make it to the finals. they been playing great this season. hopefully they don't have bad luck like the Bulls.

Need at least one of the top seeds to win this.

i hate the spurs ---not as much as the celtics though! but they are on a roll....sweeping through the playoffs...parker has had an awesome career year, duncan looking rejuvenated, leonard and green giving them some young atheltic legs...OKC will be tough and i will be rooting for them, bu have this really bad feeling it might be the spurs year!!! didnt they win the last time there was a lockout too with drob and duncan?

This was tweet I saw today below... please discuss logically NOT emotionally -

duncan up with mailman as best pf ever, a real toss up... parker and manu not done yet but im unsure about the hall for either of them - FYI manu one of my favorite players - pop no doubt one of the best ever

No "Star Power" on Spurs? Pop Top 3 coach of all-time, TD greatest PF ever, Parker and Ginobili Hall of Famers. So there's that.

Hmmmm... I would have to say that Timmy is THE BEST PF OF ALL TIME.... with Malone second. Taking into account that Malone played with Stockton - One of the best ever 'Pass first' guards in the NBA. Parker has always been a more scoring based pg so Timmy has earned his stats a fraction harder than Malone IMO.

Pop - Undoubtedly top 5 coach of all time! Jackson, Auerback, Sloan, Riley to maybe be the others in there?

As far as Parker and Manu? I don't think they are HOF'ers as individuals, but I do think there should be some sort of nomination/induction allowance for teams. Like they do with the Olympic teams, they should be able to induct 'The 95-96 Chicago Bulls' etc! Then I think the Spurs will get some deserved recognition as they are a real team orientated group!

I agree Pop is up there, probably tied with Jackson at the top, with Sloan and Riley right behind them.

TD is the best PF ever to play the game without a doubt.

Not sure if Parker and Ginobilli are HoF, but i guess that's mainly because they are part of the bigger picture. As Drob50 mentioned, i think HoF are generally players who stand out as an individual, "best player on the team" kind of stuff. Parker and Ginobilli aren't that kind of player, in fact no-one on the Spurs roster is that kind of player, and that's why it works.

They will definately be hall of famers. Run TMC (Hardaway, Mullin, Richmond) made it in the hall, so will these guys.

In terms of the Hall of Fame, don't forget it's not the NBA Hall of Fame it is the Basketball Hall of Fame. Manu is a certainty to beinducted into the hall of fame because of his international record combined with his Nba career. Few players have the international resume that Manu has.
