The Official SAN ANTONIO SPURS thread

I'm a bit bummed that the Spurs rested "the big 3" today. Got some tough games coming up, I would've rested them for 1 of those and taken the win today:)

The youngsters did well still.

Spurs play Lakers 3 times in the next 2 weeks I think, wow.

Just goes to prove the theory that they care for nothing except the Championship!

Again, they were on a league leading win streak and they rested! Same thing happened last time they were on a 13 (I think) game streak earlier in the season and ended it by resting up!

I think the reason they rested them this game was because they could avoid having them even getting on a plane. The next 3 games are at home.

Man if Pop doesn't win Coach of the Year, then I don't know who will. I mean how smart is he? Rest his best and oldest players, and the young players still play good! World class coach.

Yeah, he is a clever fella, that's for sure!

But I think you would be hard pressed to beat Doug Collins or even Frank Vogel IMO!

I'm still shocked he rested all of the big 3 @ Utah, maybe just rest timmy.

Just picture this.......

Championship Game 7, SA v CHI (for example)

Where is the game being played? Chicago? Why? Because CHI had a better regular season record by 1 game.... if that happens then resting the big 3 would obviously be a huge mistake.

Spurs still cruising nicely. Gee I hope the take top spot in the west. I'd hate to see them have to slug it out with Dallas in the first round and then most likely L.A.

That top spot is key IMO. Get that and ride it to the West conf finals.

Tim Duncan not playing @ Sacramento today, being resting, no real surprise i guess, but just an FYI

Yeah, no surprise! He has been a monster lately, and deserves the sit down! I think they try to rest whenever there is a flight involved!

And the Spurs have 6 games remaining in the season. One of the most I think, OKC only have 3 more!

At least Blair should get some game time today with TD out! Ever since Diaw came on board, Blair has been missing out on minutes. He better have a big one today and get noticed!!!

Really starting to fear for Blair's future at the Spurs!

Tiago has really stood up this year!
Diaw is a machine
And Timmy is playing like it's 1999

Then to have Bonner as a backup C that can shoot the 3 Ball!!

Where does Blair fit in now??

Hate to say it but i can see Blair following the same path George Hill took last season. I was really pissed when i heard Hill had been traded. I went to SA last season to watch a game, loaded up on Spurs gear whilst there including a Hill t-shirt, few months later he was gone :(

But in hindsight Kawhi Leonard has been a great pick up.

Yeah, I was a little disappointed when he left, but I like Leonard much better. The Spurs knew what they had with Gary Neal and made the right choice to move Hill for Leonard!

Blair can be such a hard worker down low. He gets most of his points just by getting into the best possible position. His positioning is the only thing he has going over Splitter, Diaw and Bonner atm

I agree, they may look to move him just as they did to Malik Rose I think. Quite similar players.

He really is'nt a center and struggles against some of the big guys. But still, gotta love the way he plays for an undersized guy most times. Hopefully he helps Spurs win a championship. :)

hahaha

Check it:

This San Antonio Spurs' season demonstrated how much Tim Duncan’s game has declined — he’s slow off his feet and has limited lateral movement. In addition, Manu Ginobili is increasingly fragile, Tony Parker is disgruntled, Richard Jefferson is useless and Tiago Splitter is not close to being ready. Expect San Antonio’s roster to be dramatically reshaped. But never underestimate what coach Gregg Popovich can accomplish.

This was taken from a Fox article on who can win the 2012 Finals, written on the 17th June.

Since that, the only thing that was right in that piece was that Manu is increasingly fragile, with a broken hand, but what he didn't think of is that it wouldn't matter!!

Spurs putting on a clinic today. I would'nt read too much into the game with Kobe coming back (quite the adjustment for the whole team).

But noticed a few things. Great to see Pop start Splitter with Duncan to keep Bynum to just 2 rebounds, WOW.

Another thing is that Diaw can guard Pau and also can score on him. If Spurs play L.A at some stage this is huge.

Also, L.A are still weak at the point. Sessions and Blake CANNOT stop Parker who is the Spurs best player. World Peace even had to have a go at him but it did'nt make too much of a difference.

Gee I hope Pop keeps em going until they lock down top spot. OKC vs L.A will be huge in a couple of days.

With today's win v Portland Spurs secure number 1 seed in the west, but as we are well aware, it doesn't mean much, number 1 seeds have lost to number 8 seeds in the past.....

I think they will be fine. This is the danger team to the Bulls (assuming both get through to the finals). Chicago atm is a mystery, rose and hamilton have been out for too long. So not sure what form they will bring to the finals.

Looks like tomorrow's game will possibly be the decider as to who we will get in the first round!

If the Jazz beat Phoenix, it is all over for the Suns and we will get Utah in round 1!
