What has become of this forum...

Hi guys,

I will be doing the case share for AFL Select Series 2 Honours here on Ozcardtrader!

Just to add to Billyhoyle's post if a case card signature is pulled from the case, still waiting for spec sheet from Select to see total odds etc I will random it between the 16 boxes who are in the case share. I stress I will not be keeping it.

Hope to see a few of you guys get on board and hopefully bust something nice for yourselves.

Any questions/queries feel free to send me an message :)

Damn you Pap, now I feel compelled to buy a box!

There are 100 Case Card Sigs, and 600? Cases, so youd think 1:6 chance.

Just wanted to bring up my experience with the 2014 nrl elite release.
The members on the forum have helped me complet several base and parallel sets including sending cards for free if they had them. Help in "just send back the equivalent, no $$ needed".
I was happy to trade a signature card for the same one because the member preferred the one l had.
The concept of a community actually exist there. There are some great members in this section as well and l hope the majority of you follow their lead.
All afl collectors should go and take a look at the nrl forum. It's a great example of what the afl section once was .....

I agree with ming I found my first time using the nrl forum to be a great experience everyone I had dealings with were no nonsense, lets get it done guys , there was no time wasters they were happy to trade to get what they want or buy if trade couldn't be reached and every single deal I did on that forum was an enjoyable deal I will definetly be getting nrl again .
afl forum really needs to lift its game

Believe it or not the AFL forum was once as good as the NRL forum.
I just read a post in the afl section from a member saying quote / unquote cards are going on ebay due to time wasters!
Just sad.

At the end of the day it is the members who make the forum.
The good members here need to keep pushing out the positive message and make the others fall into line.

I know that @Scotty_WCE (and others) have been trying to promote the forum, by starting up some threads to promote discussion.
However as an example I started a thread for people to talk about Honours and there were 9 replies. (I'd be interested how many people who have complained in this thread have replied to it? - or are people only coming here to try to buy/sell/trade???)

Your point about NRL people giving away cards? I don't think I've seen any AFL member start a thread offering up cards (now there probably isn't in the NRL area too but it is about changing the culture)

We got a case share happening and would love for @Mr Paparazzi to run these in the future - in fact the site even gave away a box to try and encourage more activity. Which was one of the requests from this thread.

Happy to take suggestions on board, but I think this thread is not really promoting the good culture of the AFL area that you want to promote. You, the members, are the ones who can change that culture.

to pick up on your point I think there is also a big difference in product NRL v AFL.

NRL has 33 autos in the latest release: All numbered out of 130.
16 League Sensations (1 per team - which makes them even more sought after)
16 Young Guns (1 per team - which makes them even more sought after)
1 case card
(4290 total autos for 33 different)

AFL by comparison:
24 DPS: #/400
6 brownlow sigs /200
(10800 total autos for 30 different players)

Also all the league sensations (bar 3 who wouldn't sign) the #1 card is actually a redemption which gets you the card + a signed and framed jersey (The other 3 is unsigned )

The NRL flyer is here if anyone wants to compare - http://www.elitesports.com.au/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/2015-Elite-Sales-Flyer_v7.pdf

Earlier in the year the NRL Traders release had (I think 6) redemption cards for tickets to the NRL grand final.

I think the reality in the NRL v AFL argument is that Select could learn a lot from ESP (and ESP are still learning)

Looking at the numbers above would also be interesting to compare box numbers produced in each set.

Thats what we are all here to do bur as a mod you should be leading the way.
Not sure what you are referring here
Happy to take feedback.
I'm interested in afl, not really a collector and go and have a look how many threads I've tried to start to build the forum. Also equally more than happy to give away base etc.
If you look at my sale thread, all my prices are below eBay but still not getting any interest.

If you're referring to pulling people into line, happy to do it but also need people to use the report button so all mods know and it can be dealt with promptly.

Yeah I agree Andrew, it's all up to the members. The mods make up, what, 0.1% of the forum? The members are the ones who can turn this forum around. Next time, when you have negative thoughts about this forum and feel like you want to vent, instead make a new thread, for discussion about cards or general chat. And, if you want people to start giving away cards, why don't you take the lead and give some of your unneeded ones away to those who will appreciate them!

Let's work together to make this forum better!

If you think l want some free cards you have totally missed the point. Let me go into a little more detail.
I was after a parallel card to complete my nrl set. I put it up on the want list. 3 people pm me asking for my address and they would send it for free.
On the afl section l put up a card l want with pm me with a price and a member response what will you pay. Just because lm after that card doesn't mean lm going to be held to ransom.
This happens a lot in the afl forum.

In giving this example there are some great members in the afl section.
Banana, lionsroar, Mike666, Carlton.
Need more of those guys otherwise the migration to the other site will continue.

Sure, I was also referring to Billyhoyle's point in his post about changing the culture.
