Good idea in theory but how are we going to verify it? I don't know about Matt and Graham but I sure don't have time to ring people and ask is that X. Of course we could look them up in the whitepages, but not everyone is in there and it would be easy enough to pick a random number from there and say it's yours
and then there is the whole swag of privacy issues/concerns

Just remember AY there are some kids on here 14 and 15 years old. I dont think their parents would appreciate calls to their kids from strangers.

Billyhoyle is right - holding someones personal details on your website has a significant amount of legislative requirements attached to it via the privacy act. If that info the got hacked into and released they would be fined a hell of a lot of money. Max fine is $50,000 per breach.
Why is it up to us to verify the details of someone YOU are doing a trade with? If it was a deal where you considered it to be highend, then wouldn't you be getting all of this information from the other person and verifying it yourself before proceeding with the deal.
I liken it to walking up to someone in the street that you don't know and handing over a couple of hundred with the promise they would send the cards later. There's no way in hell I'd be doing that without protecting myself in some way but over the internet people seem to have no second thoughts with doing it.

Let me get this Right , Shaun did a runner as well as Steve??
I believe the high end deal Shaun was involved with was on another forum. Not sure what the story was there...but im pretty sure it was over a pricey Star Wars Galaxy 6 sketch card....Dave might know more.
are we going to see a hunt soon for these two?
dont forget we need pitchforks!Only if we use long pieces of wood with petrol soaked rags as torches.

Would the mods approve to the creation of a 3rd party verification exchange and allowing it on this site. I think there are several people who has the same idea as well so not claiming this as my idea. Especially for high-end cards, lets say for anything greater than $1000 (or any other discretionary amount set by the mods), both sellers and buyers need to use a third party to transact for a small fee (to cover costs). It might cost more to transact but at least it provides protection to both parties and saves the mods in dealing with massive fraud cases. The third party can also provide a bank gurantee to Ozcardtrader so that he does not play up as well. Well let me know, I'll be happy to set up a third party verification exchange for high-end cards here on OZ card trader. Cheers Alex
