The Official LA LAKERS thread!!

How many points do you want Artest to average when he's probably the 5th option on a team? The % aint great but 11ppg will do. Durant is on another level this year. No one will be able to guard him. It will take a team effort. If the Lakers had've lost Artest for this series also, it woul be a sweep already and not even close in the last 2 losses. I have noticed Artest has struggled to keep up with Durant this year. Like I said, he's on another level. That's why I'm worried about this team.

I think most teams would be ecstatic for someone to average 11 ppg shooting 32% against u. It takes a lot of shots to score 11 shooting 32%

It means he's jacking up a lot of shots at a terrible %. I'd rather Artest doing that than Bynum, Pau shooting more at 55-60%!!!

after watching all 5 games played so far and only winning against the Pistons, it's very frustrating seeing a team with so much talent play so poorly, think a lot of the blame is on Mike Brown, The Princeton Offence isn't working, the starters are playing too many minutes, Jordan Hill seems to be the only player off the bench that's proving to be any good, mind you his game is mainly about second chance opportunities

Kobe needs to be Kobe, he needs to go back to more isolation plays where he can draw the double team and find the open man, Dwight is posting up too far from the Basket and not utilising Pau enough, and Pau taking 3 point shoots, its so dissappointing, the 3 ball is another dissappionting aspect, especially when Jodie Meeks is a decent shooter and could prove to be a great option off the bench, there's so many elements that are being ignored, hoping that they'll get it together soon, have to laugh at Steve Blake having a dummy spit at a fan after getting told to start making shoots, about the only starter that's playing half decent is MWP, he isnt scared of shooting the ball, it's actually funny if he ends up with the ball near the end of the 24 you can see him panic and just launch it

They are a bit of a worry but no harden is huge, Martin is good but harden like manu makes big plays at the right time. I agree with you on Durant I think he is the best player in the world!!

Big ask for Kobe to carry even more of the load at his age. The offense should be going through pau, yes Dwight is athletic etc but he doesn't have the inside game, Too many turnovers. See what the offense brings when Nash returns before any real judgement on brown. The lakers just don't have the depth which is why they probably won't contend.

Time to dig this thread out of the dirt.

Well were do i start?!?!?!

Normally i get annoyed but can deal with it but atm i'm lose patients very quickly.

#1. Not liking the way they r play under D'Antoni. For it to work the way he wants it with the 7 seconds play it doesnt give Dwight time to get positioned and get full use of his big body. They also have to shoot well for it to be effective.

#2. We r playing no defence at all. We have probably the best defensive player in the league but still cant stop team. Gasol looks lost at both ends of the floor. Defense wins championships so there for LA will not win it.

#3. I know when Nash and Blake comes back it will help the offense but wont help us at all on D. I dont believe we have the team to play this style and but the top teams in a shoot out.

I have never been so disappointed in LA since i started following them back in about 2000. I read that Kobe blew his lid at training cos the second unit was constantly blowing the first unit off the court and its a fair call. If u cant beat your second unti even in practice how will u even beat a team like Washington???

We have given up far to many dunks and lay ups in the key, Dwight and Gasol with their eight and reach should be able to shut the key down and in Metta on the outer with Kobe and it should be alot better than it is atm.

The way i'm seeing it atm in LA scraps into the finals with the 6th or 7th seed and lose. Dwight walks. Kobe is now to old really to start a new team again. Will Gasol still be there at seasons end? If so theres another spot to fill. For me it pretty much this year or bust and atm i just dont see anyway it can or will happen.

Lets hope i'm wrong!

End rant..........for now, atleast til next game.

yeah i know Magic was shooting the ball to good which sounds like bad defence to me. They also applied the hack dwight plays and we on a good night u shoot 50% it works well. For me Gasol is a very talented player but i'd rather see us with a young energetic hustler at PF.

Totally agree, diantoni was never going to suit the lakers. Bunch of old farts playing up tempo?? i think not. Unfortunately all good things come to an end, kobe is not the player he once was, still good but.. I have always said howard is a numbers man, still dont think he has much of a clue what is going on out there, just athletic. They still need time to see what will happen with a full team though, it may work.

Looking at their current record 8-9, I thought it was not too bad. But then they have already played 12 games at home and only 5 on the road which they are only 1-4!!! What a mess at the moment these Lakers. Maybe they should have hired PJ instead of d'antoni.

Lakers haven't gotten a big piece of the puzzle back from injury yet...Steve Nash, who knows a thing or two about running offenses. Having said that I've never been that partial to the D'Antoni system, even though it is entertaining at times. But he's had the same people working the same system with a subsitute thrown in here and there in Phoenix, New York and now LA and it hasn't worked at a playoff basketball level, so hard to believe it would now. Phil Jackson would have been tremendous to have back as a coach, oh well, what could have been.

I'm giving this team another couple of weeks after Nash comes back. If they continue to fade in the second half, then further changes are required.

Dwight's free throws shouldn't come into it against teams like the Rockets - we should have been up by 20+ in the last quarter.

This season feels so much like the Kobe-Malone-Payton season it's not funny...

A bit harsh to be hanging gasol too. He was the centre piece of the triangle that won them 2 titles. As some have said wait to see what Nash brings first..

Yeah Nash will help the offence but he will probably hurt us even more on D if thats possible. Our offence doesnt worry me to much we have to much fire power to be this bad on the offensive end.

Your right about the defense because the little frenchy use to pull his pants down at Phoenix, also having the speedy Westbrook and Paul in the west is not good for the lakers..

This is how you fix the team

1. Trade Gasol for anyone. Yes i know what he did previously for the team but thats in the past he is no longer that player.
2. There is a few free agents out there they could sign Kenyon Martin, Raja Bell they could help off the bench they need more from the bench

At least this year World Peace is player better basketball.

They should of last year traded for Beasley i think he would of fit in well with the team. He sure doesnt fit with Phoenix

PS Doesnt Gasol and World Peace contracts come off the books at the end of this season.
