The Official LA LAKERS thread!!

Actually the same could be said for you Lakers LOL;)

Well yeah, we're gonna have to cross that road if the Finals are a reality. We did win in Cleveland this season, we can do it again. We beat them on our floor this season, we will do it again. But I'm not looking that far forward right now. All I'm worried about is whether the same team we saw tonight boards a plane to Houston or not. I got a good feeling they'll show up.

Then we'll worry about the Mavs or the Nuggets...

Only convincing you need is whether the Cavs beat you in 4, 5 or 6...

...they need to get past the Magic first...

Lakers will however get past the Rockets (as they should without Yao and TMac), then on to meet the thugs of Denver.

Well i refused to comment on the Piss Poor Effort in GM4..This game should have been an Elimation game!!!

But was good to see a good allround team effort by the boys 2nite!!

Oz, Phil musta been listening to you coz DJ was put in, albeit Garbage Time!!
The guy has so much energy not sure why he doesnt get used more often??

Here is some highlights for us Laker Fans that havnt seen it!!:thumbsup:
Lets hope they are this energetic for GM6 in Houston, this is what this team should do to a Team with YAO and T-Mac...

Lets hope they can back it up!!

He did and looked quite agile for a guy his size! Not sure why they haven't tried to use him more!

Hey I'm not writing the Magic off for a second.

But I know that the glimmer of hope after a couple doubtful games is starting to shine bright now that they got a shot to nail that series, in a Celtics Fans eyes they're right in there. Afterall, this is you're brother we're talking about. ;)

Plus realistically, the Celtics now have 2 shots at closing this series out and they've already won on the Magics home floor. As J.E. Skeets said; 'Dwight is like Michael Cage with Muscles.'

Seriously though, Dwight is better than that. I just don't think it's Orlando's year. I see the experience of the Celtics finishing the series in 6 games. I could be wrong and either way Orlando will be back...

Yeah Oz has been calling it Since the start of the Playoffs!!!??SHould have used him when Bynum was struggling!!

He came in and played his guts out for us while we where without Bynum and the sad fact is Bynum is struggling mentally and physically and his confidence is off as you'd expect. Hopfelly walking over Houston with no inside presence can get him back to playing a little more aggressive. :ermm:

Plus you can look at that avatar 2 different ways;

1) Get Mbenga in there if we need something more that we're not getting from Drew

or

2) Win every game by 30+ points from here on out and DJ will get his minutes either way...

I like the second option.

It was obvious you were gonna choose that option :thumbsup:

Yeah Oz has been calling it Since the start of the Playoffs!!!??SHould have used him when Bynum was struggling!!

Yao would have eaten him alive in the first 3 games and he would have been sitting on the bench with 2-3 fouls after 3 mins like Bynum..

Finally got to watch the game. Lakers played superb,(or how you'd expect with the super undersized rockets front line vs 2 x 7fters) stating with Bynum who showed up early (Gasol looked to be getting him going to get his confidence up) and it's the best I've seen them play on the floor together in quite awhile.... Normally Gasol/Odom's 2 man game is more the focus and that hurts Bynum but with the Odom injury they worked it well. Full credit to Gasol.

I think the series is 90% over in game 6 and even if we can stretch it 7 we have no chance at getting by them. (even if stern did want us through  )

For self-esteem's sake, I hope we can stretch it to 7. I won't say impossible, because, let's face it, my rockets have done some pretty incredible things in the past. Game 5 was different thou on the Lakers floor- it was too much for the scrappy Rockets to handle.

We weren't in the friendly confines of Toyota Center. We didn't have the home crowd cheering for us after every hustle play. Our adrenaline wasn't going to be an ally. Instead, we had to fight off the energy that the Laker fans brought to their hometown team. Not that they really needed it as the
Lakers were full of energy!!!!!!!!

From the opening bucket of the game, an alley-oop to Andrew Bynum, Los Angeles made it clear that they were going to attack the paint. Bynum scored the first six Laker points. To make matters worse, our best post defender, Chuck Hayes, picked up two horrible quick fouls and was sent to the bench.(Pretty much game over from there, as the Lakers took back the lead). In comes Carl Landry, and thus, our post defense is ruined. It took a while for Gasol to get going, but by the second quarter, he was putting on a clinic. On mulitple possessions, he made Luis Scola and Brian Cook(who??) look silly by making quick moves on the block, allowing him to take another step for a wide-open dunk or layup. Gasol also ruled over the boards, as Scola, Cook, and Landry did a poor job boxing out. Pau had five offensive rebounds in the game, and kept many plays alive with tips. We had no answer for him, especially with Hayes out of the game.

Here we go, Ron the drama queen. Wants to fight but acts like a fairy with the invisible contact and suprise, suprise - Kobe is T'd up. 5th for the playoffs and 2 away from a suspension. Review that **** and make right your wrong. Also should come as no suprise it's the same ref that missed the foul in the closing minutes of that Denver/Dallas game. :fist:

Stern in the stands in Houston, they had the Empire Strikes Back music playing in Orlando tonight, how fitting if they played it in this arena on this particular night. So many bad calls I don't know where to start....

Groundhog Day in Houston, it's almost like that 40 point win has hurt us where we should be benefitting from it. Only upside is it looks like we'll edge our way back into this unlike game 4 where they seemed like lost pups.

Good thing is Ron is talking early, he's got that look in his eyes and may have missed a dose. Keep it up Ron, try and take it all on your shoulders. You'll be our 6th man before this is done...

16 point margin with a half to play. Slow down the tempo in the third, let Gasol do his thing and find his rhythm, crash the boards and get the second chance points we should be getting.

Anyone watching the game or watching the replay later, how bad is this woman on the sidelines? Overpowering the whole Rockets crowd, coming through louder than the on court sounds and flat out sounds like a cat being tortured... it's getting old really quick.

Richt back in it, they went to Pau and he's been converting. Slowed it right down and controlling the pace nicely. Defensive pressure stepped right up and Ron... Where are you Ron?

Landry pushes off on the dunk, creates the contact and it's a foul for LO. Keep 'rooting' for the officials Stern...

What now? Hand is part of the ball so the Kobe three isn't a foul and then the ball goes off the Lakers. Its been bad but it has been far from the difference in the game.

Wrist ain't part of the ball, and his shot doesn't go off like that unless there's contact, and the loose ball was off Pau, they call it LA and then call it rightfully Houston. It's been all over the place all game...
