Really can't stand Boston...they won't get lucky again next series

yeah they really got lucky last season winning SOOOO many games and beating every team in the playoffs... And sooooo lucky to WIN this series without key players while not playing at their best...

Also extremely lucky to win so many games this season playing well under their best...

Yeah pretty lucky Rondo didn't get suspended for at least 1 game where 2 games was definately a possibility.

Jimbo u seem to have yr knickers in a twist about this. Howard punked Sam D with an elbow, Rondo gets boxed out off the court (u can't tell me that wasn't inflamatory), throws Capt Kirk to the floor, then TRIES TO elbow Kirk, he missed him, get over it. I have no doubt if he hits him he woulda been suspended.
There's no way u can say 'that's the same thing' as Howard's cheap shot elbow....

Now quit moaning and get Wade to pull thru tomorrow cos I wanna see Lebron and Wade pound each other

:(

Man what a series, this has to go down as one of the best series EVER.

Rondo was Huge

ALL the shooters were Huge

Rose was amazing, let alone for a rookie

OK, FIRSTLY - I am not posting this to bait celts fans or anyone else. It is here as I wanted Celts fans opinions on the article and rather than starting a new thread!

Kevin Garnett Proves He's Not Just "The Big Ticket"?He's a Big Jerk | Bleacher Report
Kevin Garnett Proves He's Not Just "The Big Ticket"—He's a Big Jerk!
When you hear the name Kevin Garnett, what comes to mind?

You're probably thinking of a great NBA center, an amazing defensive player, and a leader who elevated the Boston Celtics to a Championship last year. You probably even felt happy for him last year when he beat the Lakers in the Finals, because if anyone deserved a title, it was him.

However, if you've been watching the Celtics and Bulls' first-round matchup, you've probably formed a new opinion of the Big Ticket. Words like jerk, dim-witted, and moron come to mind.

Anyone who has watched this series has seen an injured, well-dressed Garnett doing one of two things: 1) screaming obscenities, usually at Bulls' players or 2) pumping his chest with his chin stuck out like he's actually done something.

Maybe he should've gone to college for a few years, just to learn how to express himself without a slur of obscenities with every sentence. I feel bad for the mom sitting behind the bench with her young child.

After Brad Miller was assaulted by Rajon Rondo, Garnett started screaming "choke" as Miller missed his foul shots that would've tied the game up. Pretty big talk coming from a guy who got eliminated in the first round seven straight years. It only took the addition of two other Hall of Famers to get him over the hump. Yeah, you're bad, you're real bad.

Also, should he really be this excited that the defending champions are struggling to beat a team that finished .500 and is led by a rookie point guard? You would think that a veteran player like himself would be humbled by this series. But you scream and holler all you want, Garnett.

Perhaps all of his antics are just his way of justifying his inability to play hurt. Michael Jordan wouldn't be sitting on the bench in the playoffs. That's because great players suck it up and play no matter what. Not exactly Willis Reed-like, are you Garnett?

The sad part is everyone knows that the Celtics can't win another NBA title without Garnett. Admit it, Boston fans, you know it too. So make sure you tune in throughout the playoffs so you can catch Garnett's antics when the Celtics get eliminated.

I wonder what his choice of words will be then.

Howard's elbow grazed Sammy D's face. Just cause Rondo missed does that mean he shouldn't have the same punishment? The intention was exactly the same.

We are lucky it didn't hit Hinrich cause there could have been some damage done there, but essentially your endorsing throwing elbows and swinging arms during NBA games, as long as you miss the person?

Anyway it's not just that I also found the slap to Miller's head pretty low.

But yes your right - Let's go heat! :)

Excuses, excuses.... Get over it.... The Celtics arne;t what they were last year and probably wont be again. Kevin Garnett is a knob! Sure he can ball, but without Ray Ray and PP he wouldnt have his ring! Enough said!

Even without KG, you guys have got a good roster. Suck it up, realise they arne't as untouchable as you'd love to think and saviour every win.

I dont think they have played THAT bad, just alot of teams have caught up to them.

What a great series to watch, good on the Celtics for winning, it was always going to be extremly hard for the Bulls with game 7 in Boston!

Not to mention he tripped Kirk as well when we was going for the hoop.

Also in game 5 last play of the game Rondo smacked Miller in the mouth when we went for a lay up instead of going for the ball.

Celtics won it 106-104. That 5th game should of gone into overtime and things could of been different.

Then we also had KG walk out on his team game 1 and then mouth at the Bulls bence.

I have no issue with Celtics winning after all the series was great and they played better in game 7, but the way they went about it and the way the NBA handled game 5 and Rondo is a joke.

I use to respect KG and the Celtics, now i think the only guy I can respect on the Celtics team is Ray Allen.

Cocky I think if Hunter was as high profile and had the camera and limelight on him too you would find the same thing from the Bulls bench. But that wont sell papers and no one cares.

And if you are going to attack each other guys save the effort as posts will just be deleted. There is a difference between tongue in cheek and out and out attacks on members.

This celts team still won over 60 games, took care of Orlando without KG making a difference and have home court. Its a bit early to discount all that and fact that matchups now put our backcourt in a huge advantage match up wise.

And I'm still hearing KG wouldn't win without PP and Allen.....Geez and Bird wouldn't of without McHale and Parish and Magic without Worthy and Kareem......

A championship team is a championship team.

KG hasn't endeared himself to me this year also but some people are a bit too precious when its pro sport played with passion. I'd still rather him mouthing off than sulking on the bench because he isn't playing despite us winning. How many NBA stars are trash talkers and hated by opp fans..... Most of the elite have the same sort of persona and are loved and hated because of it.

Rondo series MVP.

Anyone else now a Kendrick Perkins fan??

Rondo did have a good series and while Perkins played well I was impressed with Big Baby in the games I saw....seemed to hit the big shots when needed!

I have to say Ray Allen is a class act......hit some huge shots and is one player I love watching play!

* Game 1: Monday, May 4, at Boston (8 p.m.; TNT)

* Game 3: Friday, May 8, at Orlando (7 p.m.; ESPN)
* Game 4: Sunday, May 10, at Orlando (8 p.m.; TNT)
* Game 5*: Tuesday, May 12, at Boston (Time TBA; TNT)

Rondo DID play well this series, I think I saw a couple of times he almost put up 3Ds, and whilst people are disgusted at his dirty plays (that's me with my hand up), or disappointed at the way KG acted throughout this series, I think the Celts still are the team to beat, and we can only bad-mouth the refs for allowing such on-court actions to continue.

Chad, how do you think the Celts will go in the next series V Orlando. I've read a few times where you've said they have advantages, etc, but they've just come off a 7-game series, but there were 4 OT games, including a double, AND a triple OT, and all this from a team lead by a Rookie.

Surely there's Celts weakness' that allowed Chicago to push them this far?

Don't forget that 6/7 of those games were all 10 points and under, most games 2-3 point victories.

I know that Philly pushed Orlando, but surely the Magic have to be considered more of a threat than Chicago was?

It's unlikely that KPerk will be able to contain Dwight Howard, Paul Pierce will have his hands full with Rashard Lewis.

Ray Allen could well be an difference maker in this series. He was with Chicago, and if he continues he could provide the scoring punch the Celts need.

Agreed, about Rondo.

Huge perk fan here, but BBD is quickly becoming one of my favourite players.

Scotty sure the fatigue factor will be huge. I'd go as far as saying fouls is the most cruicle stat. Perk will get more this series even with great D and we don't have another big that plays the same C style. And any PG foul trouble is bad news for the Magic also. Early fouls could decide the fate of games unfortunately. You only had to watch the bulls series to see how our fortunes were with Perk on the bench. The Magic will clean up the offensive boards a lot better than the bulls did who didn't exploit it and rather just lived and died by the jumpshot.

BUT this series wont be as up and down high tempo as the last. Sure scores are always closer as the games are much lower scoring than what the Bulls series was. The tempo and matchups change a lot.

Perk has a great history of holding Howard so I cant see why we can't discount him doing so again. Howard has scored most of his points in the games on a switch or open lane dunk rather than when the Magic need a score and go to him with his back to Perk. They can't rely on Howard to give them production in the half court set imo. PP has trouble with the range of lewis but they tend to swith Hedo onto PP who can't contain PP at the other end. Ray is the key backcourt man here though along with Rondo of course. Ray is a huge matchup problem for the magic everytime we play. JJ Redick currently is his matchup if they go with convention. JJ REDICK! With two PG losses how they will contain Rondo I don't know. Thats IF Rondo decideds to play his style ball that is.

And all this attention frees up House a lot more as it has in the past. With Powe I'd say we win in 5 but he aint here unfortunately.

As for our weakness. Not every team has the personnel or game plan to exploit each teams weaknesses. The tempo and perimeter play of the bulls was always going to bother us. Hell even Golden State gives us trouble. To play the same game plan with more of an inside game the Magic have to shoot an enormous FG%, 3pt% and it puts the load of pressure on Hedo as the leading man along with Lewis rather than Howard.

So yeah I'm still confident. We have two all stars, Rondo can't be far off being one, Perk is one of the best defenders in the league no matter what the 'experts' say, Baby has shown the most important part of his game(cosistancy), we are defending champs and we have home court with a raucous crowd! Pierce looks tired but the rest of the team should be pretty fresh. No reason to go into this series and not be optimistic

i reckon rondo's ascension has obviously been remarkable. skill wise i think many have thought its there, but unlocking it was always the hard thing and then doing it consistently... that is clearly what makes the great ones great. that's his next challenge now, doing it throughout the balance of the postseason and hereon out in his career. he's just gotta get rid of that dirty streak in him

perk has been solid but i think the celts realistically deep down wouldve been expecting this type of play from him for some time now... great to see him shine and come up big... he's a hulking beast of a man and the bulls clearly had issues with him down low and while he's not a focal point, i believe the celts shouldve gone to him even more to put even further pressure on their big men.

the major revelation for the celts, without question i think, has been the play of big baby davis. it hasnt been easy without kg & powe but bbd ensured the celts got fantastic production from the position... i think 18 & 8 from memory, similar to kg numbers without the added superior d. again he proved a handful for the bulls who didnt know how to guard him due to his size and suprising mobility. he hit jumpers as well as loads of layups and scoop shots around the basket by using his wide frame to his advantage. celts have definitely unlocked a gem for the future in davis

orlando is another team that lives and dies by their outside shot, particularly the 3 ball... hedo, lewis, alston, redick, lee can all hit the 3 ball... simply put, if boston can shut them down and force them into rushed shots and ensure they shoot poor 3pt%, they win, even if dwight averages 25ppg and 20rpg... obviously easier said than done
