The ability to play a tough innings has been missing from the Australian team for a while. By tough I mean, playing and missing, not middling the ball or scoring freely but keeping your wicket.

This style of batting is the perfect compliment for Warner, well done Ren!
 
I thought it was actually good for Renshaw to open the batting with Uzzie in the first innings. Renshaw would have batted with him in first class cricket and would have felt more comfortable playing with a mate from QLD than a swashbuckling New South Welshman who may have put a bit of pressure on Renshaw by scoring at his usual rate.

Some people seem to want it both ways.

After the second Test: "These batsmen are shocking! Why doesn't anyone value their wicket? Bring in some old-fashioned batsmen who can grind it out!"

After the third Test: "34 off 137 balls?! How boring! Drop him and bring in someone entertaining!"

Uzi and Renshaw should open IMHO.
Warner at 3.
Smith at 4.
Nevil at 5.
Patterson/Maddinson/S Marsh/Head at 6.
Handscomb at 7.
Starc/Hazlewood/Bird/Lyon

Dream World - Cummins, Pattinson come in the bowling too.

Nevill actually bats much better up the order.
 
Gee Khawaja is in some hot form at the moment. He clearly loves batting against the pink ball. Really hope he can continue this form through the summer and, much more importantly, into the series in India.
 
After watching him in last years BBL and this seasons Matador I would have him opening instead of Finch. The only detriment is he isn't a great fielder.
 
I realised that Clarkey wasn't making much sense in the comm box the other day... He repeatedly said that David Warner was in 'brilliant form'. He might have played a few nice shots but he certainly isn't in brilliant form, he hasn't really had much form since the first innings of the first test.

I can understand saying this about Marsh at Test level, but not ODI. He's actually got a very solid one-day record and has won a couple of games off his own bat. Just because he's been struggling in the Tests, doesn't mean he should be dumped from the ODI team as well.

100% agree Scotty. He got out quickly in the ODI and people are calling for his head already. Read the stats!!!
