Thanks mate, but just the old classic Shaq phonecards. There has been a run of them on the bay of late.

bid on what you like.like matty said i don't look at who is winning the bidding.if i want a card i put my bid in and if i win i wanted it more or if someone else wins they wanted it more.i have out bid members from here before.it's a auction highest bidder wins that's it.
that's my 2c's worth
tony :D

The only thing I can say is if you keep bidding against the same member and all you did was to increase the $$$ he has to pay then thats when you get worried... :)

Ebay is open market, don't ever forget that. You will always bid against someone in order to get something you want.

What Jeff said regarding outbidding fellow collectors then offering to flip for profits, that's not on.

I always end up in a bidding war with a certain individual from another forum, but we've never gone head to head (flaming) because of it.

It all comes down to how much you want the item (how much you want to pay).

I'm sorry, but if I wanted a card, and had the money, I'd go for it.

I will say that there is also a level of respect that I have, and I would not outbid mates on certain cards.

What I mean, say Matty (Nash13) wanted a Nash 1/1, and I "liked it", but I knew he was chasing it, I wouldnt touch it, because I know he'd get more out of it than I would.

If someone outbid me on a Harris 1/1, so be it, I'd be disappointed I didnt win it, but in the end, I didnt bid enough.

But there's never a reason for anyone to turn around and say you're doing something wrong when you bid on a card.

Scotty, except for that super rare Nash/Harris 1 of 1.....I dont care if you want it.......its all mine! :)

Cheers
Matt

ahh, the joys of collecting 'unpopular' stuff like legends

no competition from ozcards peoples!

well, don't worry about it.. just bid what u can pay...

sometimes, a member lists the card, and 4 other members from same forum outbid each other, until it ends...... it happens here all the time... and i hardly hear any problems... u can offer ur previous card if it's so serious PC, coz u just wanted to upgrade.. or u can list on bay too, i know u sell cards, i just won some last week..

coz you have to think about the seller too, the seller might want to sell high, if he's decent and not shilling, it's our jobs to bid at what we can pay.

hope that helps..

thats not the basis at all mate but IF and I say "if" the memeber told you about the auction and that he was watching it and then after that u went and bid on it...then dont expect them to be happy about it....I wouldnt be.

For once Shoes makes sense

If they found out about the auction by you telling them (although it was foolish to do so) I'd be majorly pissed.

Thats like you pointing out a hot girl at a bar and then he leaving the table and going to chat her up and taking her home

And if a card like this is bought and then flipped straight away to the other collector for an unreasonable profit THEN Admin would have something to say about it.

If it stays in his PC then its just he being a 'not nice bloke' and I doubt he will be on the recieving end of any ozcards Karma in the future and we all know that can be VERY rewarding.

Well said.

Karma? Geez, if I bid more than someone else, then obviously the card is worth more to me than them, to go on about Karma because you get outbid seems a bit sore loserish to me.

He's making talk about Karma IF you were only alerted to the auction by the other member and THEN outbid him. No karma if you simply both found it, both wanted it, both bid and then 1 of you won. I mean me and adhunt bid on the same card just last night! No drama, we both found it. But if you were told of the auction by the other guy you outbid...=karma

I'm also fairly new here..... I never really bother to see who has the highest bid, it's all about price and FB...
I'd like to think that I respect anyone that is prepared to do the same. But if some dude tells me about an auction, with nothing saying he is going to bid, why the hell would I not bid on the card. If the dude was going to bid on it, why tell me about the auction? I can't see what the fuss is all about. Why can't he sell or trade the other 2 colour patch if the dude wants it, as long as it's fair and comparable? This is a trade and sell site isn't it? Not a pony club...
I understand we all have feelings, but this is the card game and people get burnt all the time, whether buying, selling, trading or whatever. I got snipped this morning on a Ultimate card, I'm spewing but I just have to wait for another...... All's fair in love and war.

well, great read guys, we all have our consensus i think :) ...

in fact, i don't mind if anyone outbid me coz they can pay better, or even if they ask me to help them their pc, i would if i could...

i think it's good to have fun with hobby... :)

I think the point is mate... you can bid what you want on a card if you found it... but if SOMEONE says "hey look at this card I'm thinking of going for this one" to then go and bid on that is not cool and I would feel they would have the right to be pissed off. Still it is you're right to bid on that card....

but there is a mutual respect around this place between members, an honour code so to speak.... we don't go and jump on someone elses card if they showed it to us....

and some people like me, won't bid on a card if we recognise a forum member is bidding on it... period or we won't bid on a card if we know a certian member is chasing - for instance I do not and will never bid on 21/# KG cards because Al collects them unless he said to me he wasn't interested in a particular one or didn't have the cash at that time etc....

All personal choice, but that's what makes this place great. We tend to want to keep it that way :)

So bid away on anything you like we will never stop that, but understand that depending on how you come across the item to bid on in the first place, someone may just be peeved off.

that is all good and well, but i think the member who showed him the auction is the fool, the winner could have already been watching it and wanting too buy it before the member told him about it. in the end if you want the card you bid higher
