RT @chadfordinsider: Did the Pacers just trade a young, starting PG who led team in playoff PER for the right to pay a back-up center $16M?

More on Brand, looks like they MIGHT be able to get him...

The Mavericks will offer a significant bid to Elton Brand, the big man who was waived via the amnesty clause by the Philadelphia 76ers.
By amnestying Brendan Haywood, the Mavericks now have a significant amount of money to throw at Brand, and it would be a one-year deal which would keep them in the running for all free agents next season.
Interestingly, the Mavericks are going to be under the cap for the first time in forever.
It seems unlikely that anybody will out-bid the Mavericks for Brand, should they submit their bid.

RT @daldridgetnt: Source: Elton Brand hoping to be claimed by the Mavericks. Story up soon on http://NBA.com.

I guess it all depends now, on if anyone else is in the market for him.

Who'd have thought NBA would introduce an Ebay (Auction - related, I mean) type approach to signing Free Agents!

I wonder who will be a FAKE free agent??? LOL!

Admittedly, a bit bummed about Collison trade. It sucks when your favourite player leaves your favourite team. Nothing against Dallas, I have always liked Cuban's intensity, and a starting spot for Collison is a good thing, but I would rather see him in blue & gold next season :(. Having said that, if Dallas can score Brand, that gives them Nowitzki, Brand and Kaman up front (not bad at all), with Collison running the show along with West (maybe) and rookie Cunningham, and then with Beaubois, Carter and Marion on the wings the Mavs dont look too bad...at least no where near as bad as they looked a week ago.

Yeah I really hope they can lock in D-West too. I appreciate his intensity and showmanship on the floor. He's 100% dedicated to making his team mates better, and the Mavs winning.

I certainly hear your pain re: fave player leaving your fave team.

looks like the mavs have saved face by getting the 2 bigs in kaman and maybe brand plus the trade for young collison... nice starting 5 now actually
