Official 2011-2012 Playoff thread

Tim Duncan going off

How was that not a foul on Manu taking out Harden on the 3????

Kerr said maybe it was because someone pushed Manu, so what lol, he cause a guy to almost do his groin splits style!!!

Agreed, but in reality, they probably made a no call on the push from Ibaka as well, so they decided to call it even!

STAT - Timmy D has equaled Hakeem Olajuwon for career playoff blocks

Miami played crap intermittently, launching 3 pointer after 3 pointer, not running their offense and they still won! That's just not going to do it in the playoffs moving forward. You give any other team that many chances to get back in the game, and you're toast but fortunately as bad as Miami was for stretches, Boston was worse.

Don't understand this...
33.8 - OKC Full Timeout (107-117 SA)
11.3 - SA Full Timeout (111-120 SA)
11.3 - SA - Tim Duncan enters the game for James Anderson
0.0 End of game.

Why the timeouts when the game's decided, and why bring TD, and risk a possible injury?

Who's watching the game that can explain it for me (good ol' ESPN Gamecast not very descriptive sometimes).

Timeout to advance ball to half court and run an inbound play. Turned out OKC didn't want to foul anymore so they let the clock run out. OKC is one of those teams that are so quick that even a 3-4 possession ballgame is nothing for them to outscore you in a matter of a minute or two, just ask the Lakers. Huge win by Spurs, OKC is an extremely good team in transition but their half court offense relies on their talent to score and make shots.

The OKC Timeout is typical close out possessions.

The SAS Timeout was because Jackson was struggling to get the ball inbounded and would have got a 5sec violation, so calling a TO resets the 5 secs.

As far as TD for JA, I think it may have just been in case of fouling again??

Thanks Adam, makes sense! Sometimes those text gamecasts are just not what the doctor ordered!

Great win BTW!!! Heading to OKC for a couple of brutal games no doubt. If SAS can win there like they have been, SAS will win the Championship IMO.

Whats with the grabbing:confused:Dirty OKC
Yeah I understand why they are doing it, but it isn't pretty to watch at all! Spurs were playing near perfect so something had to be done.

It is a tactic that Pop used years ago! It is extremely effective for 2 reasons:

1) It allows you to make baskets and reduce the risk of an equalizer by putting the worst FT shooter on the line
2) It majorly disrupts the flow of the game. As shown today... It works! The Spurs were 100% in control before that period and then OKC took the momentum away from them.

Also, Spurs fans are the last people allowed to say that the tactic is not 'fair' or is 'dirty'. Pop patented it! lol

Wow, nice run down, It's clever and I haven't seen it before. It's really an ace up your sleeve and I can't wait to see how OKC responds at home.

Actually it's been done for many years with the 'hack-a-shaq' being the most well known phrase for such tactics. In case your wondering why not continue to do an off the ball foul in the 4th like they were doing in the 3rd, it's because the rules have been changed to award the ball back to the offensive team if under 2 minutes to play in the game.

This one is for all those that say san antonio are boring to watch, steve nash is better than tony parker, suck my big fat one!!!!!!! Also, kevin durant is an absolute freak of nature... that is all

Really like the way okc play, they will get their championship. Unfortunately they have run into one of the most fluent offensive units to ever play basketball.
