Gower is one of my favourite players ever, i idolised him and Girdler in my early teen years. Will be sad to see him in another team in the NRL.

How often do TV stations report information which turns out to be false? Inglis signing with the Broncos being reported on the news up here for days being one recent example.

Just because you saw it/read it doesn't mean that makes it true unless it's an official release from the parties involved.

no shaun is contracted till the end of 2014 but apparantly he doesnt really like matt elliot or vice versa.

News to me! Townsend will be eyeing Leuluai's 5/8 spot. Leuluai is a hooker primarily and it is unlikely we'll keep Nathan Friend next year. Locke is the one Warriors fans are worried about (him and Matulino are our best players imo). There has been talk of Brisbane being interested for a while, he is off contract next year and has not re-signed as yet. Tomkins is on the radar and he is primarily a fullback. I'd hate to see Locke go and would rather he converted to 5/8 if Tomkins arrived.

Parramatta coach Ricky Stuart has told at least a dozen Eels first graders they are unwanted beyond this season.

Veterans Reni Maitua, Ben Smith, Ben Roberts, Willie Tonga and Matt Keating are believed to be among the players who were told the news of their immediate future around lunch on Wednesday.

It's understood youngsters Cheyse Blair and Luke Kelly are also part of the blood-letting.

More details are to follow, but the following statement from Ken Edwards was released on the Parramatta Eels website.

"This morning, with the full support of the entire Eels organization, head coach Ricky Stuart informed the full playing squad that the services of a group of selected players will not be required beyond this season.

"Some of these players are off contract at the completion of this season while the others are contracted for 2014 but have been told that they are not a part of the club’s plans moving forward and have been offered early releases.

Interesting to see ricky stuart makes maitua co-captain, praises him at start of yr and half way through tells him hes not part of his plans.
I'm guessing they are planning to chase hard with some other players on the market possibly?
