Sounds good. I'd do a round of all the Coles in my area but I still only need Maloney and Lolohea. Might pick up a few anyway if I see them but I might have to dust off my trade thread.
How come I can never finish the year with a full set?
3 lots, each set had 1 common player from most teams (first set didn't have a sharks player, second didn't have a raiders and third didn't have dragons or tigers), 4 additional Young Stars in each set (every team but Souths, Tigers, Raiders and Storm) and 4 Clive Churchill Medalists (2010-2013, Boyd, Stewart, Cronk and DCE)
Titans had Ryan Hoffman, Ryan James, David Mead and Kane Elgey (Young Star)
Did anyone else get that survey in an email a couple of months ago about Christmas-related Micro Figures Products?
Basically they wanted to know if anyone would be interested in Christmas-themed Micro Figure products which were basically variants of everything they released this year (eg figures, plush, clothing, shopping bags, etc.)
How do you do Christmas themed products with Micro Figures anyway? Will they just be a special set released in time to be a Christmas gift or will they have a theme to them? I guess they could do a JT in a Santa hat or something.
I think there was a glut of product this year. Just way too much stuff.
And a lot of parents complained about the prices. $2 per figure and now down to 50c, a lot of parents got burnt last year so either avoided it, or are going for it now. With the pricing, they've basically completely devalued the sets in the space of a month.
I personally love the mini figs and SOO dolls. Not fussed on everything else.
However, when you were paying $20 for SOO and they became $2.50, the mini figs were $2 and now 50c, the kicking game was $10 and now $2, folders were $10-12 and now $3...if you've bought all that stuff, and now see it at such reduced prices, you'd be a bit pissed orf. Thankfully, I waited all winter for the non micro fig stuff and now we've got them.
The one thing that did seem to go like hot cakes was the blow up doll ones. They brought them out, sold out pretty quickly and that was that.
As for the rarer figures...each series should have had different ones, not the same 4 across three sets. Early on, saw $25-50 prices for a gold. Now I wouldn't cross the street for a bagful.
Micros are great fun for kids and adults alike but they get the mix of figs, product range and pricing right, then it will last for years and years.
I reckon it's gonna be hard to come up with established players for some teams eventually, they might end up rereleasing a few (same or different teams).
I like the 3 stage set. I can see why they've done it too, gradual releases keeps people going to Coles over 3 months instead of finishing your set in a week so they buy more groceries.
The $2 price point for the figures is fair I think, especially when other Legos are like $5 per fig but it does suck when they start clearing and you've already got basically everything. It only really stings the most on Footy Mates, Plush, Stadium, etc.
I reckon they should do a Retirees rare set next year. Stage 1 has 6 from '14, 2 has 6 from '15 and 3 has 6 from '16. Each team gets one, some get 2 obviously but it's a good chance to give figures to players like Ennis who missed out and lets them reuse a few blokes like Lyon and Mini.
I also hope they release more stuff with seats. My stadium currently holds 123 people, which is just enough for everyone minus the 7 players from Souths (Warriors Luke gets a seat.)
But I snagged a Maloney on Gumtree and Lolohea's in the post so I'm done until Christmas. I think it was a good set, they just had way too much stock again.
If so, I can't say I'm not surprised. There were 1000's still on the shelf that didn't sell at $20, $15 or $10 and only started to clear at $5 and $2.50.

Yes, but it said "Micro-figures range", which I assume is supposed to mean the whole line of products (Figures, plushes, blowup dolls, board games, clothing, etc.)
It's sad the Footy Mates couldn't sell. Mine still has about 4 Gallens left at $1 each.
If the micro figures really aren't coming back next year I hope there's at least the Christmas set so that I can get some new players between now and 2018.
I think they might be going for a reboot. Not stocking as much of the stuff and limiting their range to the figures and the games that go with them. Maybe keep the plushes and the inflatables because they sell OK.
A lot of people don't bother with the folders when they have the stadium to put them in so they will probably limit those a bit too.
