NRL Drugs scandal ????????

amazing since the nrl has been dragged into this you havent heard a thing about the gayfl team that was first found out

once again great work the telegraph biting the hand that feeds, without the nrl you muppets wouldn't have anything to write about and would have to get real jobs

Yeah and past Essendon players and others have said they were offered drugs and that the team was pressured to do them as a whole...

There's a big difference between taking a few recreational drugs and taking performance enhancing drugs... Nearly everyone has taken recreational drugs in their lifetime, be it ecstasy, marijuana or alcohol. If people want to judge...alcohol causes many more deaths and accidents than any other drug and destroys a lot more people's lives. It might be legal but it's a hell of a lot more harmful than any other drug.

I find it funny how Joey gets crap from people because he used a few party drugs when back in the day players used to get drunk all the time, drink at training and even at games. The guy was also suffering from bipolar disorder unmedicated and unless you live that hell every day of your life you have no idea what you will do just to try and forget the pain.

Ahhh this old chestnut again.........

As good as Joey was and a deserving immortal IMO without any doubt, he will always have to live with the drug jibes, thats life. I'm sure he is equiped to handle it.

Yes, there is a big difference between recreational and performance enhancing drugs but thats not the point this ASADA investigation covers both because they are both illegal.

I don't see the difference at all, both are illegal, alcohol does not and should not factor into the equation as it is legal. The whole point as I see it is to investigate the role of organised crime and their influence and the use of drugs in sport.

Plenty of performance enhancing drugs are legal.......just like alcohol.

Either way the Gillard government is laughing their arse off that this report with seemingly no actual evidence of wrong doing has been keeping their incompetent and corrupt arses off the front pages for the last week and a half.

 Well there's obviously no drugs at me mighty parra so if they all get busted we might be in with a pretty good chance this year  I thought we were in with a pretty good chance a few year ago when the storm got done

 owen, ya hit the nail square on the head there mate..children overboard  etc etc etc ;)

It's a shame that this commission had to drag the NRL and the other codes down and drag them all through the dirt, create all the hysteria and alike and we still have nothing but innuendo and finger pointing, if they have the names of players, coaching staff, medics, board members, blah, blah, blah why are they still even preparing for their respective seasons...piss them off if they are corrupt or drug taking because this whole "we know who they are and we are coming to get you" shit is just dragging on, going no where and all its doing is wrecking our great code and the others.

the more it drags on the more it looks like they have nothing and the culprits will realise this............fix it up, piss them off out of the game and bring on the start of the season....GO PARRA :)

Im suprised that Abott and co. havent gone on a full on attack on this on the way it has been handled, especially that first press conference that was broadcasted across the world that aussies sports stars are drug chreat.

Yes plenty of performance enhancing drugs are legal but not necessarily in professional sport. As has been reported some substances have legitimate and legal medical use but those same substances are banned in professional sport.

At the end of the day you have to ask yourself and answer honestly as i did in a Qusetionaire this week!

Are illegal drugs prevalent in sport - My answer was obviously -Yes

So if i believe all sports have illegal drug users and they are not being caught out then it is obvious that the Actual Sports themselves must have some connection, however or whoever it might be, to the Anti-Doping agencies.
Which is most important? The Athelete or the Sport!
Can a drug cheating Athelete bring down a Sport? Yes

Make up your own mind i guess, but is Illegal Drugs in Sport prevalent? In my opinion, it just gets covered up and always will!

Abbott is far too incompetent to do so ;) Only thing more incompetent than the labor government is a sexist, clueless man who can't say anything without putting his foot in his mouth.

Curious why you would think illegal drugs in sport are prevalent?

I would answer no at this point in time. based on prevalent meaning widespread / common. Do they exist in sport? yes. Prevalent? No.

Which illegal drugs you talking Ross.

Recreational drugs like ecstasy i would say most definitely - performance enhancing - No

Both. I agree there would be more doing recreational drugs but still only a minority, not prevalent.

Yeah i think your being a little naive there. They might not be doing it every weekend but with what came out in the Danny Wicks saga and what I have seen around Newcastle in my time (not just the Knights but visiting teams as well) i have little doubt its widespread.
