My Year Long Paypal Experiment

I need to know how to have a total given to me without going through every single transaction... pdf was about 31 pages (though $ total won't be too stupid...)

Yeah i just downloaded the PDF and was given 79 pages but no total amounts?
Is there a simple way or do i have to go through it manually?

I downloaded the tab version and then when it put it in excel I simply edited out the credits and then "SUM()"'d the remaining.

Guys to figure this out do I need to use a calculator and add them up or can PayPal give me a total? CBF with the first option

I guess. Download the "Comma delimited" version of the last 12 months with Tabs and it should make it an excel file, then you can send it over :)

I used to do that...then realised I likely wouldn't need them, but was keeping my Forestry industry alive :D

LOL i've tried down loading my history several times and it keeps crashing. Im scared of the amount thats going to be on here from last year

download it to a CSV file for a year period.

Then turn on auto filter on all the columns.

For Type - ignore currency conversion (as this is a duplicate of the stuff in aud when converting money to USD etc..)
For status - filter by completed
For Ammount Column - filter out all positive values as this is money that has come in from bank (if you look at type will say Added Funds from Bank Account)

this will give you a total spent.

to get AUD total you could just filter by Added Funds from Bank Account and it should be slightly more than spent as it will be in AUD.

HOWEVER THIS IS ASSUMING YOU DO NOT HAVE MONEY IN PAYPAL. Like me every transaction I do always does this. my paypal sits at $0 all the time.

lol i dont pirnt receipts out haha.

paypal history gives you a CSV but does not provide transaciton ID (maybe I didnt tick all options who knows).

Date Time Time Zone Name Type Status Currency Amount Receipt ID Balance
24/02/2010 21:32:57 AEDT RockYou, Inc. Pre-approved Payment Sent Completed USD -10 0
24/02/2010 21:32:57 AEDT From Australian Dollar Currency Conversion Completed USD 10 10
24/02/2010 21:32:57 AEDT To US Dollar Currency Conversion Completed AUD -11.53 0
24/02/2010 21:32:57 AEDT Bank Account Add Funds from a Bank Account Completed AUD 11.53 11.53

NOTICE HOW FOUR LINES ARE ALL THE SAME TRANSACTION HAHA. SO need to filter out three of those lines.

also nick, just wait. it took about 5mins for mine. don't touch anything it will get there.

What do you mean it timed out? Are you highlighting and saving?

Request a download from PayPal. It will take a few minutes but they send it to you as an e-mail! No need to manually download it or risk it being timed out.

If you have been doing the PayPal download/e-mail method, disregard my post
