For me i think the base and the auto are crap and hardly worth the money even when the boxes where cheaper! However i do like the inserts, overall i'm disappointed with them as a product and the player selection but great to see some of those sweet old school inserts back again.
Ive spent so much time on ebay the last 2 days just watching how anything and everything Retro is selling for. If nothing else this product
has created interest levels I havent seen in a long time.
Will Panini bring any of their releases forward to quell momentum, or will they wait till the heat from this one dies down?

I recon they might wait and bring something big to the table. GU Auto's are one thing that retro is missing... Competition sure is heating up, so Panini have a challenge on their hands

The point was, that if you are going to buy 3 cases, don't EXPECT to pull something HUGE! It is a gamble, not a birthright!
Don't know why you are so quick to jump down people's throats about a comment or 2 that you clearly misunderstood!
After busting some myself, I think....
1 - More stickers than Panini (or equal), yet less people making a deal about it
2 - PMG are pretty common, mainly because there are 210 of each player to be had.
3 - 88/89 Parallel RC Autos are AWESOME!! I pulled a Klay Thompson one and now I am going to stalk a Kawhi Leonard one!
4 - People are greedy. A product is considered 'value' when they buy at a reasonable price and have a shot at a big prize. This doesn't work when the box price goes higher than the possible hits??
5 - Base cards feel and look NICE
6 - Upper Deck gets less flak for producing a product with a lot of crap in it, just because it has the MJ autos and PMG's!

Can tell you guys I busted several boxes with a mate tonight PMG's look good in hand, inserts generally good couple not as good. The re-sale value is crazy and alot of the whingeing and negativity on here has been done by a few who now idolize this release. People never seem to amaze me.
$5k a case I would pay $2-3k a case yes for sure

If the calculations and case numbers are right then 08-09 skybox had 500 PMGs in 2000 cases (10 box case? Not sure) and retro has 840 PMGs in 1500 cases (6 box cases).
08-09 started out at $75rrp and is now 300+/box and Retro started $200 and upwards of $500/box? There abouts.

That's exactly the issue Brett! What started out as a $1200 case, became a $1600 case before it even got here, so people were judging based on that. Then to find stickers eveywhere (which is what people always bag Panini for) and to find scrubs all through the checklist, PMG checklist with the usual suspects in it.... it was hard to get around it being a $300 per box product.
But with the prices that people pay for singles, you think, well, there is a decent chance....
But now, people want to push cases to $3 and $4, even $5K??? How can you have the same feelings about a $1600 product that is EXACTLY the same as a $5K product??
I don't see why it is called whinging and negativity? It is an opinion, and in most cases, they seem to be fair, or at least unbiased!
I love watching the box breaks, but would I consider buying a box, no thanks, I need NBA jumpers and logo's, in saying that looking at the inserts is fun, Panini could learn from this release, and step it up on the inserts. Inserts take me back to the early 90's, no Auto's back then, we were chasing the rare insert.

Agree about the price opinion. I still have boxes available and I dont sell them for $700-800 as I didnt pay that for them, it is crazy how quickly they have gone up. People are always going to have opinions, I'm normally against UD and their products but after busting these tonight and loving the PMG's believe you can only have a view or opinion once you have seen first hand what they look like. I never tell another collector about cards until I have seen or busted them myself. Always going to be things that could be better in products Panini with redemptions, Topps and UD with their customer service etc etc.

but was selling for around $450-500. Did a case break for $350 each. Decided to bust one myself tooI'm kicking myself for not grabbing 2 cases when I could have at $1800 each. Let's be honest here, we knew that people would go crazy over this product, the interest it generated was unbelievable. Now doing the math....firstly the chance to hit a MJ auto is going to bump the price of any product, add in the crazy 90's insert prices, plus 23 MJ 1/1 buy back auto's.....and bloody lebron!!! All this equals ridiculous prices as we have seen. I think it was Thursday night I could have bought 2 cases. As of Monday night you couldn't find a case and if you did it was going to cost you a kidney and your first born.
I think this hype is great for the hobby, yes I would have busted a case and then tripled my money on the other (if I didn't hesitate and actually bought them) but in the end wether Retro is up to standard or not it's still the biggest hype I've seen in basketball collecting. Great for the hobby I say!

Been watching some of the Nash cards a PMG Blue (#/50) just sold for $393 they were selling for $250-300 upon release.
What I think is funny is that the Nash PMG Red (#/150) are selling for about $100-125 and the Flair Showcase card (Also #/150) is selling for about $10.
Amazing what hype can do!

Wow, so you fail to read something properly and attack someone about their post, yet instead of apologising all you do is say that you know what each of you wrote? What a charming person you must be.
Actually, you called him greedy specifically because he bought 3 cases. That's exactly what you said, period, full stop, in that sentence.

From where I come from, a grown man is allowed to spend his hard-earned dough however and wherever he chooses. Your comments come across as having a very, very jealous attitude, and condescending to those whose hobby goals are different than yours.
We all make ill-advised posts, just admit it and move on. Don't backtrack and pretend you didn't say it though. You weren't talking about 'value' when you called him greedy for spending his own money.
