ESP Roosters Premiership Set Flyer attached

Hello all, my name is John Howard and I work at Ikon. I am not the sort of person that gets involved in forums but on this occasion I feel the need to clarify what will be happening with the Roosters set. I am not seeking dialogue on this matter, so please do not be offended if you post and I don't reply, because the truth is once I have finished passing on this information, I doubt I will ever return unless I need to pass on vital information to the collector community some time again in the future (I am 59 and not a card collector, so please respect my position). Contrary to information being passed around, Ikon will not be supplying these sets first-come first-served. We will be getting 100 sets and each will have a numbered Clive Churchill Medalist card. That card could not be included in the original set because it was a Manly player. We will not be getting the regular stand alone sets and will not be wholesaling that item - these will need to be purchased from ESP directly if any dealer wishes to range this item. Collectors will need to buy these from dealers or the Roosters shop.
Of the 100 "premium" sets with the limited card, Ikon will be allocating these to the dealers that have given the most support to the 2013 Rugby trading card program over all of the three releases. This allocation has already been done internally at Ikon and the dealers will be notified of their allocation (if any) over the course of the next week. We consider this to be the fairest and most equitable way of dealing with what we know will be a much sought after item. Dealers will have the discretion to deal with the item as they see fit or as the market determines ie. sell the "base" set for the SRP of $69.99 and deal with the bonus card as a separate item, sell both as package etc. Ikon will not be selling these sets to collectors - all of the 100 items that we will be receiving early November will be going to on-sellers in accordance with their support of the rugby card program.
Trust I have answered all the questions and clarified what is happening with this product.

Thanks for the information, it would be great to get some information on the other upcoming set as well.

I've never bought a premiers set, probably bitter that they came in a couple years after the Panthers last won the comp, but I like the idea of the premiership winners being recognised in regular series (as Dynamic did in 94-95). If they will put the grand final set with a series 3 rep set, it might raise my interest in both.
I also don't see the point of using images that are from the grand final and then clearcutting out everything besides the player, so it looks it could have been from any game of footy (bar the jersey badges). Folks deride the Champion sets, but at least the cards tended to show rugby league being played.

i completely disagree with the action shots, but im sure the companies would love you. the player renders (cutting the players out) is easily the longest part of the process. to do one properly can take over 30 mins per image.

i think i disagree because im an IP Auto collector, and the light background they seem to adopt in the series two set is perfect for IPs. im not too fussed on traders though, if they wanted to do a action photos for that i could live with that.

if resellers don't pass on the DCE card I think that would be a joke and I personally would never buy from them again.

Nathan, that is a silly statement to make. Ikon are allocated 100 Premiership Sets + the 100 extra cards. Dealers are allocated sets based on how much product they have purchased from Ikon. I hear the sets are about $65 wholesale so they make $4.99 a set. The bonus card is not an entitled card to get with the Premiership set, it is this card that dealers will use to make their profit on the release. A dealer who sells the Premiership set + bonus card for $70 is in my opinion stupid. You could expect to see the set + bonus for over $150 + I think.

Buying a premiership set does not entitle the collector to the bonus card.

What is also going to be hard is that dealers struggle now to sell the older Premiership sets for just above cost. What is the general collector going to think when they see a Premiership set for $70...........they won't understand a production run that has dropped from anything like 1000 - 3000 units down to 500.

I don't think it is silly at all. obviously most of the resellers will have the so called usual customers by now and they will be the first to order these. in my opinion those customers should be the ones that receive the bonus card. I don't see why a reseller should go and make and extra $80+ on a card that would not exist if a roosters player ended up winning the clive Churchill medal.

^ i think we know / can expect warrens price to be then

Geez you take some leaps girds, I haven't even spoken to redtorana about these cards. The figure I gave above is my opinion only. It is these 100 bonus cards that go to the dealers that will enable them to make a profit on the sets. I think the price I suggested was conservative given that league sensations are advertised anywhere from 100 - 350 dollars. I can't see any of the dealers on OCT or elsewhere just giving these cards away with the set.

Remember if a dealer is offered 10 sets and gets 10 bonus cards that dealer does not have to sell the bonus card with the set.

I understand that but if the dealer does not pass them on and then try and sell them if they have some, I hope they don't expect customers to keep coming back.
