It'll work if there is enough demand at retail price - if not then one of the authorised re-sellers will lower their retail price or ESP will end up pulping a tonne of product.
Me too.
If ESP start churning out product at the suggested rate, there will be a lot of collectors climbing onto the fence and some jumping over and walking away. The game cards do nothing for me at all and I'll wait and see with this rep set. All focus for me now on Select Dynasty. In between, I might concentrate on my FF's and TP's from the good old Select days.
my personal thoughts are that I dont really like the look of the esp cards...they look very plain to me and a patch of a jersey that hasnt been match worn does nothing for me what so ever. In saying that I do like the innovation they are showing with the above mentioned avengers cards.
All in all I think better the devil you know and bring on the release of dynasty!
I think two seperate releases is great. A kids set is a big need. $5 a pack is too much for ten year olds who would just destroy a top prospect card if they hit it. I have some pretty destroyed gold cards etc from my youth.
A $1 or $2 pack of common kids game cards would help kids collect their team favorite players without spending soo much cash.
In the scanlens days we could buy ten packs after school and didn't care that there was no inserts etc.
These guys have woken up to the fact three are two different markets with two different needs. Since the 90's cards have gotten too adulty and all the kids are just collecting telegraph cards or Pokemon.
I think basic sets n more collectable sets is a good move. The Americans do it with "retail" sets when I was in America I saw ten pack boxes of baseball cards for $10 -Aimed at the kids.

This is their first release, I wouldn't judge their whole design on that. If you judged Select solely on their Gem cards, you'd never buy another thing off them ever again!

He said that they really wanted to do a release in September because it gave collectors something current. He said collectors have had to deal with products that are over a year old in the past (thinking a reference to how Select use previous seasons to do current seasons eg CPOY, TOTY cards). It is clear that they have had long conversations with retailers...seems retailers are going to have a lot of sway with this company from the observations that i made.
Shame I had to leave early today as I would have love To have asked the boss of ESP why after 3 emails offering help to promote their products I'm yet to get a response! Bugger!
