ESP Limited Edition Trading cards

True i agree i do hope they make the game style card not a cheap card but cheaper so everyone can have a entry level,i will be interested to see what will happen with the card shows if you dont want to sell can as singles.

There seems to be a contradiction there....because footycards and Dans NRL were at the card show today and they sell singles. Perhaps it is in reference to the mass volume of online sellers.

Its easy to sit there and try to be Panini but the market for NRL aint nothing compared to NBA.

Last company that bought out this many releases in a year was Dynamic. We all know how that ended. I hope these guys dont fuck it up in their quest for a dollar.

I do want to thank you because their is not a lot of infomation that is coming out so first off thank you Michael.
Myself i am on-line,ebay i have a shop in Brisbane soon to opne a warehouse in the coming months and i have also started doing show such as Ipwich show and i am doing teh gold coast show end on August early September plus at least 1 show a month all around queensland i dont want to see people get turned off.Because it just simply cannot work for example a kid buys a box lets say $150 and him fav team is Roosters and is short 2 cards no is he going to be able to swap them or buy another couple of packs to get what he is missing,i would say most people on here over the years have bought more packs to get the cards they are after in the end you just go online and pay the extra money to get the cards you need.

He said it was an 840 Case release. I asked him about the ratios but he said he couldn't tell me off the top of his head and the info would be with the sell sheet on Monday. He said that they have already pre-sold 2/3rds of the release.

I have more info on what their plans are for the structure of the NRL card market as well as some details on their planned releases over the next 18 months. I recorded it in my phone so i will go back through it after dinner.

can anyone get there hands on a sell sheet? or are they only going to the dealers for now

For what it's worth, I think the preference to cut back on cards being sold separately is a good idea, and would benefit the industry.

Look at Select's series two release - its pretty damn difficult to get a box of it if you are a member on here, I doubt a regular member of the public would even know it's been released.

I'd imagine a large amount of cases are opened by dealers who want to cash in on the rare cards.

More boxes and packs being sold at dairies, newsagents, etc would hopefully grow the hobby.

Of course they are never going to be able to stop people selling individual cards, but I'd imagine that the initial distribution of the cards is more what they're on about.

As for their release schedule - it does seem very packed and I have my doubts about it. I can't see many people splashing out for the Avenger cards they mention. Good luck to them with it though, I hope it goes as well as they anticipate!

I find the whole 'singles' seller thing odd. I know a few sellers that ESP have spoken to and that's all they do - sell singles.

Sounds like they are trying to get packs/boxes into collectors hands rather than have sellers buying a ton of stock and collectors buying singles from them on ebay. Its going to make life a little more difficult for the smaller seller out there.

350,000 packs for the March 2013 release would be (at 36 packs per box and 12 boxes per case) only 810 cases (9722 boxes). That's less than half what Select brings out for Champions.

We are certainly entering a new era.

Don't know that ESP will cram 36 packs into a box.

Also at the card show yesterday they sold 70 of the triple autos and had about 30 left. He said they would probably throw redemptions into one of their future releases to allow people to redeem one of the 30 cards left from yesterdays event.

I thought that it was 18 packs per box

If you want to cut back on individual card sales, Tell the dealers they will be cut off if it can be proven they are searching cases.
They could make odds over the whole run and pack every box completely random but i dont really like that idea.

Limited is 18 packs, he was talking about their main Series next year. We're only guessing with that one.

He did stress that it was a major concern brought to them from collectors that sellers on eBay were searching cases. Effectively these sellers have kind of screwed it for all the other small sellers out there.

Hard to stop case searching and also hard to prove.

Could move to completely random insertion - that would help box sales but make it very difficult for sale of singles.

Having inserts between the one per box and one per case range (like in Dynasty) could be the best outcome.

Im guessing what will make it hard is that if there are only 4 guys you can buy these boxes from then any of us will be able to buy a box for the same price as an internet card seller.

Basically they are hoping that there will be no need to jump on ebay and buy boxes (taking the risk of it being searched). You just need to buy them from one of the 4 main sellers direct.

Thats how im interpreting things.

Yes, at full retail price

So that at least means no buying a case, searching it and selling on the rubbish boxes afterwards.

Its a start but im unsure about the follow on effect that it will have on the honest sellers out there.
