I am not sure if you know but dynamic contracted Mal to a 200,000 contract to have him as the promotional player for dynamic cards. They reneged on there deal. No wonder he does not sign cards. Thanks for endorsements dynamic.

I have just made a nice card and it's a 1/1 does that mean its worth $800, absolutley not. Collect them for novelty perhaps but be realistic they aren't worth anything more than the paper they are printed on.
I guess that what the cardboard would cost. I was in the newsagent the other day and checked out the price of cardboard that I used to buy for school projects I think it was about $5 a sheet. I nearly fell over. I could only put the price of cardboard into one prospective and that was I am getting older. Not that the cardboard should be that dear. Just turning into a complaining winging old man. HA HA. By the way what would you charge for an hours labour to make these cardsyou coulds make that whole set for less than $5. and thats a hi end estimate.

I remember you saying they from PNG etc, And you only referenced Australian cards...
But they are Australian Players, Playing for Australian teams... Surely that makes them Australian (ish at least)

If I was a printer by trade yes I would have a go at making them just for the fun of it. Would probably steal the material and time from my boss too. Or maybe just do it in my lunch hr. Unfortunately I will stick to working my day job saving hard and buying all the the dearest cards just to keep up with the king. Dr Grange. HA HAAs you said these bootleg sets are likely made by a collector for collectors to subsidise their hobby.
Time and materials to produce the original set then divide those costs by the production run......and if they are doing it on their bosses time and using their materials then in fact they are being paid to make them.
Also in the case of a small business often a lot of the resources are considered a sunk cost i.e. paid the same regardless of time or job therefor no addittional cost.

Fair enough I would have to think that you would have to look at it like a little business. That what ever the minimum wage is what you would pay yourself for the work then make at least that again for the business to survive then the materials. then a profit. Of course plus the GST. This rate would add up quite quickly for an hours work. Anyone that has worked for them self before would understand what I am going on about. This is why I say good luck to them as there would not be much money in it at all. I think these cards are made by collectors for collectors at very small margins to give back to collectors for collecting. Many won,t agree with me but that is how I see them

i DON'T THINK SO, BECAUSE ALL THE LEGALS WERE NOT IN ALL THAT TIME AND THE PLAYERS DID NOT GET ROYALTIES BACK THEN EITHER, THEY WERE ALL CLAIMED BY THE TOBACCO COMPANIES ETC. THEY WERE ALL PROMOTION CARDS STUCK IN PACKETS OF THERE PRODUCTS TO PROMOTE THERE OWN PRODUCTS, THATS WHERE THE PROFITS STAYED,
AND YET THESE ARE IN DANS BOOK.
Plus it's Dan's book and he can do whatever the he'll hell wants with it.
The companies you have quoted above which are in my book , such as allens, cains are in my book for one reason.
They had permission to use the images of the football players, whether it be from the club or the league.
The difference is, And this is how I see it, the guy sitting at home or using the Topps website to print cards to sell has not gained permission from the club or the league to do so. And Herein is how I choose whether a card is official or not. Permission has been requested and granted.
