Ha ha didn't take long for the storm bagging and getting of the subject.
Why don't you kick melbourne and qld clubs out then, I don't think a lot off Sydney ppl will be happy till its just a Sydney game and dies a slow death. I live in Melbourne and we sometimes get bigger crowds in local footy compared to Sydney nrl games.
So quit wineing about the other clubs and just be happy they is a competition at all.
And as I said back on subject, I hope Alex pulls through well and I'm sure storm will cop whatever the Maclean outcome is...
yeah i wasnt happy with the way cameron smith carried on either, mckinnon couldn't move his legs and smith was more worried about not conceding a penalty. in saying that i still think mclean doesnt deserve the hefty suspension your all waiting for.
The highlight of andrew johns's defence imo was him lifting a player front on and sitting him on his arse/back? Send him off? Do you make it second/third man in cant lift? Too much grey area
Legs still came off the ground, how would refs judge this on the field? And if you got the video ref involved games would go for three hours
I mean someone who is only grabbing the legs and lifting them, not completing a traditional front on tackle.
Easy enough to police. There's grey areas with everything, but that's pretty black and white.
Just penalising those who go above the horizontal is treating the symptom, not the cause.
Sarcastaball^ do you want us to start playing netball?
Wouldn't penalising players who lift the legs also be considered treating the symptom, rather than the cause.
You automatically suspend players for a type of tackle won't stop players from doing them. The game has improved as there are way less "dangerous tackles" than existed 10, 20 years ago. Look at shoulder charges way less than there used to be because of the suspensions but players still do it.
There are a lot of good lifting tackles done where players don't land on their head that would get penalised under your view. How do players end up on their heads if their legs haven't been lifted?
I think if you hand out tough enough consequences those types of tackles will stop happening pretty quickly. Just my view though.

I think most of the damage was done by the other 2 players, with their weight coming down on Alex, if you watch the footage around the 30second mark,(post 17 first page) you can see Bromwich landing with his full weight, wouldn't surprise me if that's where most damage was caused....
