5th Ashes Test Discussion

I thought Botham was way off the mark claiming Hughes was a cheat for claiming a catch that wasn't when Hughes barely claimed it... not to mention that he's got a bloody short memory considering Strauss did the exact same thing to Hughes in 09, apart from the coming clean thing.

Overall Australia has been outbatted, outbowled and outfielded in this series. Hopefully Australian cricket takes this as a wake up call and gives Beer and Khawaja, especially Khawaja, an extended run in the Test XI.

I'm guessing Botham did not see Bell?

Hard to see when you've only got one eye and its impaired by the Union Jack...

This is the direct Botham quote from Cricinfo article (Australia v England: Clarke defends Hughes over claimed catch | Cricket News | The Ashes 2010-11 | ESPN Cricinfo)

"Terrible," he said. "Cheating. How much do you want it to bounce into your hands? He knows he hasn't caught it."

Just poor form from Botham IMO; how does he know what Hughes feels?

Maybe Chappell should meet up with Botham to discuss there feelings of the catch?

You can tell as the ball is in Hughes' hands he doesn't really appeal and you can tell on his face that he didn't catch it, it was just the other Aussies rushing over that made it look like he was claiming it.

What happened with bell? If the evidence isn't conclusive I thought it went back to the original decision, like lbw's...

Spot on!

The SFA V IND test matches have been quality.

Yeah look at the third test, 2 runs difference after the 1st innings...

Either way I'll be going today!

I am hoping be can bowl them out quick and BAT ALL DAY!

(Yeah Yeah I know - Dream on)

Yeah i'll be there today richo! pretty good day to go really.. will get to see some batting and bowling from the Aussies.. Its a shame it isnt a decider!

Will be a good day on the piss regardless haha

It would of been hard for Hughes I mean the peek of his helmet could of got in the way and the way veryone rushed around him like they had taken the wicket, he might have been pressured into thinking he had the catch?

OMG Watson, stop ball watching!!!

Hahaha - you can't help but laugh at this stage.

Well Hughes just got his revenge on old mate Watson didn't he!!! That running was even worse than Melbourne.

Very poor running and calling from the both of them - there was two there for sure IMO, and even if not, Hughes would do well to call loud rather than whispering from the other end of the pitch!!

I think Hughes has played his last test for Australia, Very poor Batting, His fielding isnt the best, and as has happened today his running is on the same track, DOWNHILL. Hope he enjoyed his time

I think he was looking good but as punter would tell you, he got a great ball.

the Australians have to work on leaving the ball in the nets ;) I thought cricketers were taught as juniors to leave the ball, now there international cricketers and have absolutely no idea how to and where to leave the ball...

he always looks way too keen to score runs and it always brings him to his end very quickly. not a patient opener thats for sure. but not too sure if he's the right man for the job or not. wish katich would hurry the hell up and come back!

Australia should put Marsh & Khawaja as openers, drop Watson down the order and send Hughes back to Grade cricket, not state cricket but Grade Cricket...
Walshy no offence mate but he gets out to alot of ordinary balls...

I thinks its funny when people say Marsh, What does he average? I think its somewhere in the mid 30's.
