5th Ashes Test Discussion

Went to Day 1 guys, I was impressed @ Usman Khawaja's batting display but really p8ssed off @ the way Michael Clarke got out!

I am not hoping of a miraculaous victory (as we are already behind the 8 ball) but I am hoping we can put in a fight and make it go all the way.

I have Platinum tickets for Day 4 so I am a little biased there though (lol)

Unlucky for Beer not to get his first wicket.

I reckon it should that if the umpire thinks it's a no-ball call it and if he doesn't think so don't call it! And if there's any doubt in his mind give the benefit of the doubt to the bowler!

Cardinal sin for a slow bowler to bowl a no-ball.

interesting remark from a supporter

"'Michael Clarke is making more changes than a new parent.' Except a new parent knows why they are making those changes."

If one was unkind, one could say it's for the same reason.

Surprised Bell didn't refer that one (edit: referring to his edge to first slip) after smashing the cover off one to Haddin earlier and getting the decision overturned!!! Anyone else see that one??? He looked guilty as sin... Actually reminded me of Langer in Hobart versus Pakistan....

Oh well, just another controversy with the old DRS....

TV umpire AL Hill. If they can't get it right with the technology they have they should wait until snicko is included in DRS technology.

Slater was the only TV commentator convinced he saw a mark on hotspot, but to be honest I didn't see anything there... snicko and the stump mike on the other hand clearly indicated an edge, not to mention Bell's face...

I could see it when they were showing the review. Then a few overs after it the paused he frame and circled it.

Anyway whether he snicked or not, no big deal, they have outplayed us completely and deserve to win the series 3-1, should have been 4-1 ..
This series has not only shown our batsmen are struggling, but we have struggled to bowl them out, we have struggled to get 10 wickets let alone 20 in the match....

Agreed !

Yeh we have been outplayed in this series but I think we can still draw the match and only lose 2-1.....
We're only 208 runs behind and if we get the next 3 wickets for about 40 we'd be down by about 250..... Lets assume that they get out in 15 overs. If we bat it out for 130 overs at 3 an over, we can make England chase 140 in 35 overs...... I know I am being very very optimistic but thats just the way I am... Hopefully the Aussies can pull off a miracle and at least we know that our tail can wag

First of all have we batted for 130 overs over the series lol.... A draw or Victory would be bad for Australian Cricket, because we will think that everything is fine, when in reality we are struggling, we need to hit rock bottom, so then we can pull our finger out and rebuild / restructure or whatever needs to be done....

Spot on!

The SFA V IND test matches have been quality.

Michael, you are right that if we do win the game(which we won't it will make Aus Cricket think that evrything is ok but I think a draw would be good for Aussie cricket and would boost all of the players' confidence.
BTW in Brisban we batted for 158 overs, so in this series we have gone above and beyond what we have to do in this match, so it is possible
