Couldn't agree more and with hogan still to debut(get on him for next years rising star) our drafting over last few years has been the worst in the comp which hurts but last year we nailed it
Tyson and Salem for pick 2
Kennedy Harris was a steal at 40
This year we have another father son in stretch who was BOG for south australia over weekend
So future is bright if we can nail our picks or trade in another very good midfielder this year we will go ok next year

Good point guys.
Look at Port adelaide was only a couple years ago their was talk they were gonna go bust. Now look at them selling out Adelaide oval every game.

There'll be a bit of chat about Karmichael Hunt's performance this week. but it seems Bluey was happy...

I'd just love to seem him get to 50 games.

It was funny listening to Garry Lyon and Damien Barrett debate it today on Triple M:

It's mind boggling, the vision is clear and its nearly a carbon copy of the Fyfe bump that saw him suspended for two games and out of the Brownlow race.

In fact its more damning for Franklin because his was a late hit.

Meanwhile Ballantyne bumps for a loose ball, resulting in a accidental head clash, and he's straight off to the tribunal!

Gerard Whately said on AFL 360 tonight "They've (MRP) got it the wrong way around!". The Franklin one staggers me - then again if Darren Glass can jump in the air and make head high contact with Chad Wingard and not be penalised and Jack Viney can be even CITED in the first place for his "bump" on Tom Lynch then it should come as no surprise.

Just rambling for a second, but is there a sport with more discontented fans than AFL?

Think about it:

Cricket: not much, maybe DRS inconsistencies and future of ODIs
Soccer: don't follow soccer a whole lot but I've very rarely heard any significant complaints
Tennis: again not many complaints at all
Rugby: don't know much at all about

Compare to AFL: umpires, stadiums, MRP, congestion, equality etc

Am I just not very up with the other sports, or does AFL really have more problems than it should?

Afl has alot ofnproblems but rugby is just as bad. Every intervjew I see is a coach cominf out saying how confused they are about rules etv

This week has certainly highlighted how the football media loves to whip up a frenzy.

One dud game on Monday and now the world is suddenly going to end.

Earlier this year everyone was loving that the game was flowing, that the umps were blowing the pea out of the whistle.

Not there's too much congestion, there's not enough free kicks.

I think in general from a neutral viewpoint you probably get 3 games maximum each week that you could describe as "good" games to watch. Last weekend's Geelong vs Carlton and North Melbourne vs Richmond games being a case in the point. A lot of the footy is pretty dire, and losing teams are kicking very low points tallies, which I think kills off hope in the hearts of supporters and watchers.

There has been a trend towards watching "teams" rather than "games" - eg the likes of Port Adelaide, Sydney, Geelong and Hawthorn play attractive, high-scoring football so even if they are involved in one-sided matches there is still entertainment value.

tbh that's what I love about footy. The inventive and free form nature of the game. Teams having differing characteristics in the way they play.

As much as some have bagged Monday's game I still enjoyed it. Won't make Footy Flashbacks, but if a defensive gameplay keeps Melbourne in the game, rather than being pantsed by half time then so be it.

Reminds me when people derided Lyoto Machida's elusive footwork when he hit the UFC, or even when the crowd boos because the fight hits the mat.

Demanding the game be played a certain way, and proposing rules to force it in that direction, is not healthy and doesn't allow it to naturally evolve.

As a Melbourne supporter I'm loving the way we are playing, sure I would love more goals but that will come just gotta give them time, they are only 11 games into Paul Roos regime and let's be honest it has been a dramatic turn around from this time last year

Darren Glass has announced his immediate retirement

West Coast Eagles defender Darren Glass has played his last game.
The 270-game veteran has battled hip and ankle injuries this year and was struggling to produce quality performances in line with his career benchmarks. He will retire immediately.
The revered West Coast captain told teammates of his decision minutes before fronting a press conference to make the announcement at Patersons Stadium this morning.
“I have really been struggling to back up from one game to the next,” Glass said. “It is time for me to step aside and give someone else a go.
“Playing consecutive games has been a real challenge for me and as much as I am still mentally sharp and I enjoy coming to the club and training every day, physically I just can’t get to the levels that I want to play at and the levels the team needs.
“It has been a tough decision, but I am comfortable that it’s the right decision.”
