2014 AFL Season - Spoilers Inside

Boils down to a poor choice in putting the Hafey tribute on the same side as the banter. Not sure what was on the other side but probably should've put a bigger tribute to Hafey there.
 
Personally I'd rather they left to the tributes to the club that he's identified most. If feels self serving when everyone starts jumping on with the armbands and banners.

Has been out of the senior side but had a massive game on the weekend in the Swans 2's. He had 64 touches (28 kicks, 36 handballs), 4 goals, 5 tackles, 14 marks, 12 clearances and 16 hard ball gets which adds up to 243 fantasy points.

I heard he was admitted to hospital after the game...he had leather poisoning :D

Great game, Nic Nat looked up and about, but the Eagles are missing a guy like Pendlebury that can stand up in the 4th, throw the team on his back and carry them over the line.

- Don't think Hill did enough to keep his spot when Lecras comes back. Kicked a nice goal on the run, but was pretty quiet for most.
- Kennedy needs to be stronger in the mark, supply wasn't a problem and he was a bit of a push over today; you're not always going to clunk them free and clear.
- Didn't get much of a mention but Mckenzie held out Cloke brilliantly for 3 and a half quarters. You wouldn't have known they were playing
- Sometimes you just have to roost it long. Too much short stuff in the middle dug them into a hole
- Iron Aggots award goes to Yeo for playing a half of footy with two snapped teeth. Expose nerves are not fun.

Some good points, also thought Darling wasn't very strong in the contests and should've clunked a few. Brave effort but needed to win that one :(
 
Dont get me wrong, i think Gaz jnr is a little champion, and a very fair player. But the MRP deemed his hit like this "the contact made to the body was below that required to constitute a reportable offence". Ok i can kinda take that, even though i thought it looked like he got him in the head, but then Hartletts was deemed like this "The panel assessed the incident as intentional, low impact and body contact." Now to me Gazza's hit was pretty much a long the same lines, clearly intentional, also low impact and body contact (apparently). Am i missing something here, why was one bad enough to get a week and the other got off completely?

Yeah to be honest, I think he may have been somewhat protected by the MRP. Imagine if he won the Brownlow by 10 votes, but was ineligible! There would be an uproar, and it's in the best interests of the AFL to not suspend him.
 
The difference might be that Hartlett dropped Hill who was attended to, where as Picken was seemingly unaffected.

Same with Blair dropping Mitchell.

Plus they would've sought a statement from Picken, and he's not going bury Gaz in it.
 
Brant Colledge suffered a pretty horrific head knock in last night's Foxtel Cup game against Norwood.

Running back with the flight of the ball he turned at the last moment to run face first into the knee of a flying Scott Lycett.

Was unconscious for several minutes and was taken from the field on a stretcher.

Great shame is that the game was well and truly wrapped up and the collision occurred in the dying minutes of the game.

Yet to hear on his status and any possible facial injuries.

EDIT: just released that he only suffered a laceration below his eye and concussion, no facial fractures. Amazing, for all money I swear he'd have a fractured orbital or cheekbone.

if Patton had of kicked that sitter he missed in the last quarter GWS could beaten the Hawks today.
I like the indigenous guernseys too. The West Coast Eagles one is good.

I reckon the final 8 is settled mate - not the positions, but the teams that will make up the 8. Can't see Essendon, Adelaide, West Coast or Carlton having a big enough run to displace the likes of North Melbourne or Gold Coast (even though I think they will drop away in the second half of the year).

Have to take your chances in this game - we saw it with Carlton losing last night and Hawthorn winning tonight.

Another round in which most of the losing teams kicked really low scores - Geelong 38, St Kilda 54, Richmond 54, West Coast 44, Bulldogs 51 - makes for unwatchable footy mostly.

I won't be making any predictions just yet
A lot can change in a couple weeks.
Give it a month and the top 8 could look totally different.
