2013 ESP Elite NRL Cards Thread (Updated 5/8/13)

Chatting to Rif he said he may purchase the 50/50 cards for himself.

I did see a guy get the number 1 cards out of the envelopes and he had his photo taken with Terry from ESP showing off the cards up on the stage.

Cheers
Matt

the Gallen jersey number card was also pulled by the guy that bought the cards in front of me, don't know if anyone pulled the smith jersey number though

no bloke on ebay thats doing the individual card pre sales ruined that one for us. checklist will be out next sunday. day before the cards

I cannot see the problem with pre sales of the new releases of cards these pre sales are often over priced in any case. This would help esp sell there cards in cases and boxes. If ESP or ICON got pissed off with pre sales of sellers trying to sell there cards. What are they saying That there our cards untill you buy them and we are going to dictate to you if you can pre sell them or not. GET REAL SELL AS MANY AS YOU CAN NOW ESP or ICON. As we all have seen there cards fall in value after releases. If they want to dictate when and where people can sell there cards. A lot of people will ditch them and they will have to give them away for free as they have before

the prices are low imo, ridiculously low actually, he did the same thing last time and then didnt honour any of the prices anyway, so hes just an idiot. and this set is going to be alot different to the other two.

although i did hear today that only the sigs are numbered and that the F&F Golds might not be, which is a tad worrying so they wont be worth as much as expected but ohwell. still a much improved set so far,

It is wrong that he didn,t honour his deals. Thats bad business. Lets hope they dont loose there value and yes they look good but if they are not numbered on a limited set they are in trouble yet again and some will be unhappy about that they still could not get it right.

I will be pissed if those are not numbered, the best thing about this release was you got a numbered and limited card in each box, meaning there were no dud boxes.

I don't see the issue with pre-selling either. And, as a consumer, I really don't like not knowing what is in the product. If I'm saving for weeks (which I am) I want to know what I'm saving for and I don't want any nasty surprises. I get really excited by pre-sales and drip feeding my money into the series before it arrives like I have with the case share. I'm so 50/50 about ESP, on one hand I'm liking what they are doing with the release on the other I feel a tad manipulated by lack of info

And I really don't see how Sportscollectorscards is to blame for ESP not communicating properly with consumers. Any anyhow he has 25,000 feedback, which is almost unanimously positive other than the negs for a stupid mistake with the Young Guns (when we all thought at first that they'd be 1 per box. I have had always had good trades with him, his prices are very fair. I'm sure others have very different views to mine on pre-selling, feel free to enlighten me.

Wrong... in an ideal world, but at 1 in every 6 boxes he would have been losing huge money (even if it was through a poor choice). Is it really in our best interests to be financially crippling dealers in our hobby - more competition is a good thing.

And we know monopolies in the card business are a BAD thing

It was never mentioned that the FF Gold cards were numbered. The only mention in all of the info we have received is that the sigs are numbered.

yeah now i think about it, seems stupid. it'd be impossible to number them. i take my comments back. but im still all for bagging the bloke on ebay, if he wants to presale like that then he should honour it or do the normal thing like every body else and wait.

I agree. Although with numbering I will still be in favour of it. As there is no way of producing more of them.

You're right it is obvious now.

I used to collect tennis cards in 2005ish and they serially numbered numerous cards within a box with gold /25 silver /75 and bronze to /250 (I think basketball do the same - not a fan). This was on top of jerseys, sigs, jersey/sigs, printers proofs, retros etc, etc. It meant when you opened up a box there was a tonne of exciting possibilities and you always ended a break with some wicked stuff. I'd love to collect some gold serialled commons of Warriors cards. There are a lot ways of creating extra excitement without it being expensive in production.

Out of interest I've been viewing some of the basketball breaks on here in the last couple of days - man they are awesome, bigger market though I guess.

Just out of curiosity, where would you all consider the line between what should be numbered and what is too common?

150 and below? 300? 500?

also makes me ask, who's a fan of the double sided card idea? I thought it was really dumb with Traders how they had two different teams on two separate cards but these seem to be ok, but would it be better to bring out 2 separate cards one named fast one named furious but still link them together like they have done with the triple threat? Anyway who's for and who's against the double sided idea?
