2006 NBA Finals - Heat vs Mavs

Heat in 6 games, Dirk to take away the MVP trophy! I think a lot of the Mavs younger players will choke, and Wade and Shaq are getting some great back-up at the right time.

Mavs will win this series 4-2 or 4-3
You don't get past the spurs by getting lucky!
The way dirk is taking it to the basket he'll have walker, haslem and shaq pulling their puds on the bench in foul trouble the entire series.

Shaq and wade will go big numbers but walker, haslem and jwill be be outplayed by the howard, terry, harris and the depth will win out

im not so sure.. either team can win when they're on their game

and it was luck that bowen fouled dirk on that drive game 7.. i mean what if he didnt? ok ok im not going to play the what if game
anyways.. im hoping jwill lights up this series..

can a losing side player take the mvp? has that ever been done?

It has to be have been done, doesn't it? Would be like Judd winning the Glendinning and Norm Smith in the last 12 months. I'd say Dirk is similar to being the Judd of the NBA! :D

The best one was buckley ;) that was gold.. I'd pay to see him win it like that again.. (2002)

Oh wait.. back to the point, has this ever happened in the nba?

i believe Jerry West from the Lakers is the only player to receive the award while on the losing team.

it was 1969 in a 7 game finals series against Boston. :D

ive got the game 7 from that series on dvd and jerry west is awesome, he just goes on an unconscious shooting spree, one of the best old school offensive displays ive ever seen.

ahh excellent find there fellas.. so it hasn't happened since? so that means its possible they've ruled that out.. but who knows.. i mean, shaq in 2004 was pretty good that series.. yet billups got it??? not sure about that..

and last year.. there was some good pistons players that series to be outdone by tim duncan..

i would have given it to chauncey last year, but duncans game 7 performance just edged him in front, plus his team won which is always a bonus.

GO MIAMI

My heart says the Heat to take this one, but I'm not game to call how many it takes. Should be awesome either way. I'm hoping Zo can finally grab a ring, this will be his last chance I'm thinking. The Heat thought they were there last season, but bowed out, so they'll know what it takes to get the job done this time around, with their recent good form as a team, they can really grab ahold of this series. The Mavs at this stage I think are unpredictable.
I think they need to get Zo on court for more minutes than has been handed to him so far throughout the playoffs, there's value to be had in that, I just hope Riley realises, plus it's an extra 6 fouls he can take away from Shaq.
I've had money on either way since the start of the playoffs, so I'll profit no matter who wins mwahahahah!

does anyone think that if Zo gets this ring it will justify him to be in the HOF? I mean he'll go down as an NBA Legend and I think he made big contributions to the game and while his ailments stopped him from being one of the elite big men of all-time his heart and courage ranks him among some of the greatest players in all history. Not to mention his honours such as being a 7-time all-star, repeat defensive poy and all-nba 1st team, olympic team and top 10 shot-blockers in history.

I'll go with the Heat!!! Go Payton!!! He deserves a ring!!! :D He will have a lifetime of talking about that if he wins one :-)

With Shaq really tearing the defenses of their opponents, the Mavs will find it really hard if Wade gets hot and with Walker, Jason Will and Payton Plus Zo as backup to Shaq, You won't bet against this team.

I did say before that they are very inconsistent but I'm starting to believe in them now :-) Im allowed to change my mind, or am I not? :-)

By the way, coach Riles knows how to prevent Shaq-attack, I think....
Just some stats I looked at... The more he goes to the line, they win the game!
Shaq's FT's against Detroit:
Game 1 = 2/4 W
Game 2 = 3/5 L
Game 3 = 5/10 W
Game 4 = 5/15 W
Game 5 = 1/5 L
Game 6 = 4/9 W

But then again, the Mavs is the originator of the Shaq-Attack!!! So see what happens :-)

The Mavs had the edge this season. They won both meetings and they beat the Heat by 36 back in February. So you have to give them that. But the Heat are 34-15 overall since that loss. Miami has alot more Finals experience and I think this will be the thing that gets them the championship. Plus I think Miami is more hungry for it, there's guys that may not be back next year win or lose and that's also fueling them. Go Heat!
