15-16 NBA Draft and Pre- Season discussion

Yep. This young kid looks better than Hibbert. Hibbert just looks too clunky.
I'd be interested to see if he can recapture his All Star form if he ends up going to a new team. Or if he remains someone who refuses to run, rebound or be happy! Dude is 7ft 4 with a prototype centres body for gawds sake!

west is likely to go to NYK,
Oh how I laughed at this post! What does this guy know, West has no use going to New York! .............. until I read for myself ....... what? I see he's from New Jersey. I guess it says alot about him, playing for a hometown team instead of chasing a ring. You would think there would be contenders chasing him, veteran with a solid jump-shot.

He's not the first and won't be the last player to chase the Benjamin's over a ring. Al Jefferson was the same going to the Hornets - we all assumed he'd jump on a title contender.

Giving Charlotte their credits, off loading the cancer that is Lance and picking up solid players in Batum, Hawes and Lamb (who was under valued in OKC imo) and drafting Frank the Tank has been pretty solid. Ridnour is their only great loss, I think Barnes is over rated and Henderson flakey. If Zellar, Biyombo and PJ grow their games like they could they will have a pretty deep, solid line up, especially in a floundering east. Taken a long time but they are getting it together,

Yep I agree. They moved on Matt Barnes to Memphis which is good, they learned from Lance they don't need any more head cases in the locker room. I feel they could very well challenge for the 6th seed out east this season - pending what Indiana do to rebuild

Indy is intriguing, it has been a long time since they have found themselves in the position of a mixed approach without definite direction. PG is only 25 but can he be the player he was becoming before the break of leg? Hill is now 29, will a rebuild be quick enough for him? Hibbert has slid since being an allstar but his rim protection stats are still close to NBA leading. Solomon was perhaps a wasted pick, (I would have taken Hardaway Jr, at least he can shoot). West is gone, the draft went ok with Turner an interesting prospect and Young a steal at 43 imo. The bench is ordinary, Whittington may break out this year, but realistically the choice of having a continuous roster for years has backfired all because of a ring base being too close to a court. I think rebuilding is hard with nobody signing long contracts. Indy isn't exactly the sexiest destination for a big name, nor is Voguls no idea of offense coaching. Long slog, this will test Bird.

Loving a few storylines of the free agency period so far.

Hey Adam, this is where I was going with the Gasol over Boogie thing. Gasol is zero chance of going to LA.
http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports....marc-gasol-has-no-interest-in-joining-lakers/

That Boogie talk was crazy. Hard to know if Karl wants to get rid of him or if he's just showing him who's boss.

It always amazes me when people say G. Karl is overrated or a poor coach. He's literally taken average teams to great heights or at worst made them a winning team. His teams are always exciting to watch also. I can't wait to see what he can do with the Kings. Adding Ty Lawson would be a great start.

And I really hope LMA goes to the Spurs. I think that SA won't be that disappointed if they have to give up D. Green. He's a very solid role player but essentially expendable. The role that he plays can be filled by someone else if he's too pricey. Would be sad to see him leave though.

I just hope the East can get a little stronger, the Knicks need to be better this year.

Marc Gasol reportedly has no interest in the Lakers purely because of how Pau was treated under Brown & D'Antoni, which I think is very fair as Pau was made the scapegoat for all the teams issues.

The Knicks have already been linked to David West & Greg Monroe. Adding both of them, along with Melo and Porzingis should make their front court have relevance again. Adding to their bench, upgrading the guards is a different matter however. Perhaps even bring back Bargnani as a bench guy would be a start. Danny Green, Arron Afflalo and Lou Williams should also be available at SG whilst PG there isn't a lot to pick from this year. Mo Williams maybe?

Yeah I know what you were saying. I wasn't talking about availability at all. Just about who is the best C in the league currently.

Lakers preparing a 4 year, $80mill offer to LMA. That's some big dollars. Gives us $4mill left to play with this year if accepted + MLE if required.

If Kobe retires after this season, we then have an additional $40mill to splash next summer.

I'm a huge LMA fan, but I'm not sure this helps them too much down the line. I guess if they believe in their youngsters and also think they'll get another star once Kobe leaves they can be competitive again.

Does this mean they snag Rondo aswell? Or will they stay with the young guards?

If the D. Cuz deal can be done I think they'll be pretty fun to watch. They'll either be a train wreck or very good.

I can't see Rondo being signed now. Word is Rondo only wants to take a 1 year deal now to try and improve his stock to then find a bigger deal in 12 months.

New York should jump here. So should Sacramento.

I like LMA too but he wont help our D. He will space the floor for Randle tho. I really like Boogie but we would have to give up all our young prospects and then theres the chance boogie sooks and runs anyway. To risky with Cuz. LA have added Upshaw to the summer league roster which will be interesting. Major shoot blocker and plays above the rim (in the Deandre mold). I think LA might snag LMA and also Butler says he wants sign a 1 year deal with LA so if that happens then their back court will be looking good. Just need some more D and 3's and we can compete.

Yeah, Rondo and Cousins in the same locker room is a GREAT idea!:lol::lol:

I don't see it being the right choice for Aldridge. While I am biased and want the Spurs to land him, it doesn't make sense why he would leave Portland to get in a similar position in LA unless he has personal ties to the area, like he does in Texas. The living costs and taxes are higher in LA so he would be financially better off in Portland in that respect too.

Randle is a PF and so is Aldridge. I don't see them playing well together. Neither can really spread the floor the way the each need someone to.

Really? The Aldridge I've been watching has no problem with floor spacing.

As for Randle, I see his role similar to that of Lamar Odom. He'll be that extra element off the bench. In high school he had a nice jump shot. In college he never needed to use it as his size and post play meant he could mostly use that as his main offensive weapon. His jump shot stunk in summer league, but there's no reason why he can't get it to return with some work. Everyone has already wiped Randle off - he's played a whole career couple of minutes. I actually think the Odom comparison should be fairly accurate.

Aldridge is not a specialist 3 point shooter. He works the block and has an incredible mid ranger. Wes Matthews and Nic Batum spread the floor for Aldridge, not the other way around.

Randle is a PF that is renown for close to basket, not a 3 point shooter either(I think), but either way, he isn't a SF.

If Randle comes off the bench, then my statement that they won't spread the floor for each other is spot on.
