Another Select rant.....

maybe thats the point? kids come and go, which is why they focus on new releases. obviously the kids that go are replaced by new kids, meaning they dont have to care so much about what theyve released in previous years because they have a whole new group of collectors...

IMO. A good and successful company can maintain customers whilst appealing to new ones. Lets face it, Kids are easily pleased. Buy them 2 packs of $2.99 and they are as happy as a pig in S*#t. Why wouldn't Select want to appeal to those kids as they grow older and maintain the growing childs interest in their product. WHY??? Because it is obvious that they don't give a crap so long as they make the $$$ from what they are currently doing. What they are currently doing in my eyes is NOT appealing to the broader collectors out there, like some of us hardcore collectors on OCT.

I seriously think that Select need to listen to the hardcore collectors more because they are the ones that will continue to buy and have larger amounts of money to spend.

Not sure that Dynamic should be held as a model of success given some of the things they did :p

That's the understatement of the Century.

Your right. Like i said yesterday - they sold 5000 hobby boxes in 2000 and are selling 4800 hobby boxes this year. If your company had experienced zero sales growth in 11 years at a time where the popularity of NRL has increased significantly wouldn't you ask questions.

I think you would have to say the vast majority of the hobby release goes to us collectors and not kids.

For example I know of no newsagent in Newcastle that has any packs for sale.

yeah could be. my point is only valid if young ones are the major consumers, which i have no idea if they are or not...
every newsagent ive seen in brisbane sells both NRL and AFL packs tho.

hmmm - so here is an interesting thought. How many of the 4800 boxes bought this year could be attributed to OCT regulars.

From memory Noark-99 - 4 cases, Redtorana - 4 cases (Assuming), Ming - 4 cases, 1967sharks - 1 case. I have bought my set from ebay but that would easy make another case.

So there's only 5 from the top of my head and there is 168 boxes or 3.5% of their stock turnover. We should try to estimate the total - maybe they would take more notice of us.
