A question for the moderators, what happens to the members of this site who rip other members off. Its been 3 months since I paid a member for sketch cards from SWG6 and still nothing, done all that I can and would hate to think the other party can just come back at some stage and all forgotten.

We record the reason why a member was banned and ensure they dont come back. We do get messages from ex members who want to be part of the community again and in most cases these are declined.

Cheers
Matt

i hope something hasn't happened to smc health wise, he was on here too much for me to think he has just up'd and left, well at least i hope he hasn't but.

4 months is a fairly long time though.

i hope justice is sorted eventually tak.

The memeber involved isn't even banned though......

Thanks Matt, though in my case smc2910 is still a member on the site even though he has not been active since he ripped me off.

While we are on the subject, I would like to know if anything was done regarding the way something I purchased was sent 6/7 months after I paid and then sent loose in an envelope. They appear to be trading and spamming the forum as usual and no time out given !?

If you can send me the particulars of this trade/sale, ill look into it.

Matt,

this is the link to the trade thread.

Also, this thread was started in an attempt to locate Shaun, first out of concern then with the intent to try and either get my cards or a refund, neither of which was successful.

I will look at what PM's I may still have WRT this trade.

I got a warning from Matt26 when i identified looselips as a scammer.

It was proven to be the case, yet i get a recorded warning , Looselips changes his name and continues on.

Go figure??

What has looselips changed his name too..? Have you got proof its the same person...? the one thing the mods are really big on and do a good job is stopping duplicate accounts from the same ISP they always have been since Ive been on here.

There is certain ways to go about things, the mods constantly ask for the report post feature to be used in trade threads etc etc so they ALL get notified, not by just simply PMing them as they do have lives outside of here and they do not get paid at all for running the site...... Could you imagine how many PMs they get?

Im not condoning anything, but just making a point about a few things that were being neglected by members (not saying anyone that has raised the issues in here is one of them!!) for a decent amount of time!

The way this community is everyone catches on pretty quickly who doesnt do the right then etc... Like for Terry's case, I for one won't by a single thing of that person because Terry made it clear what the issues were to everyone that cared to take note!

The issue was that you were posting the same thing over and over and over again in different threads.

I had a look at your history as well and you have received a warning from each of the other moderators for doing the exact same thing.

The other issue we face is that we cant make members log on here to sort out these issues. We do the best we can to help resolve these issues however in the case of Shaun and Steve, we don't have any power to force them to come on to the site?

Do we contact them? Yes. The other issue is that if we ban them straight away, it may also hinder there ability to log on and work through these issues.

In one instance I had to let a member work through an issue first before we banned them. It wasn't ideal but the person who was done wrong by got what they were after and then the member was banned.

While one of the guys above said we do have lives outside of this website, I still try and ensure I will do what I can to resolve the matter to the best of our ability.

The best way again is to report a thread/message where an issue occurs. That way we have the best chance of one of us seeing the matter and working on it.

Correct, posted the same thing in all looselips threads to let everyone know he was speaking with, that he is a scammer.
On the second issue, " you have received a warning from each of the other moderators for doing the exact same thing. "
Well that's incorrect. I received 2 x warnings from the other 2 x mods for" Posting in other for sale/threads", i.e mentioning something that I had that was similar or whatever, not "Exactly the same thing".

I don't think being a moderator or admin is the easiest of jobs at times. They do their best on a busy forum where they would have to filter through all the BS (time wasted issues) first before dealing with important stuff when they get to it :)

Matt,

I totally agree about banning them straight away and I understand the need to give the other party time to get on board to sort issues out etc. But its been 3 months I have given the sketches and money up as lost and IMHO smc2910 is unlikely to come back anytime soon to apologise for his actions. After a period of time I think that moderators should be seen to support the agrieved party and take some positive action by banning the scammer. You said it yourself that you are sometimes contacted by banned members seeking reinstatement, monitor it that way and let him on to sort out his issues IF he ever decides to come back to the community.

This may create a bit more work for the mods/admins so not sure if it's a viable idea, but I have the following suggestion:

When users create a trade thread they have to put in an approx value of the deal. If the deal is over a certain amount (say $100) then they MUST have a verified phone number on file with OCT. On the rare occasion something goes wrong with the deal then we will have a verified contact number for them.

Just a thought :)

sounds like a good idea.

Good idea in theory but how are we going to verify it? I don't know about Matt and Graham but I sure don't have time to ring people and ask is that X. Of course we could look them up in the whitepages, but not everyone is in there and it would be easy enough to pick a random number from there and say it's yours

and then there is the whole swag of privacy issues/concerns
