The Official LA LAKERS thread!!

What's not to be excited about? This is the Conference Finals and we got a real shot at advancing! Should be a great series indeed.

Not a nuggets fan myself, just happy to see JR play another game! So doesn;t really matter if they get up or not. Hoping to see a big one from Kobe, he's about due...

Melo to tear the house down in LA

I doubt it... he choked it up just about every regular season game he faced the Lakers averaging 14.5ppg and losing the season series 3 - 1. :ermm:

So If that's anything to go by, then Melo is a no show in L.A. and the lakers take this in 5, 6 tops.

Melo isn't known for firing up against the Lakers, he doesn't play well against their defence. The Laker have to worry about the nuggets perimeter players more - jr, billups etc... Though Nene and Bridman may cause a few issues of the Lakers front court play they did against the depleted Rockets. The outcome of the game will depend on which front court shows up!

he's 3-3FG including a 3 pointer for 7 points a rebound and an assist already after 4 minutes!! :woot:

Nuggz shoot out of the blocks!! Can the Lakers come back with a spurt of their own?

History is on our side - a 10-1 record lately over the Nuggets and haven't been beaten on our home court by them for a couple of years.

However...the Lakers have a number of weaknesses that the Nuggets will exploit. The keys to winning will be:
- Defend the pick and roll. The simplest play in the game, but we continue to give up easy points.
- Defend the three. Could be an issue if JR heats up.
- Protect the lane. Stop Billups from slashing.
- Fisher not playing like the anti-guard (see above points)
- Help Kobe out. Our offence has looked stagnant with Kobe off the floor or when he has been denied the ball.
- Odom and Gasol show up...
- Phil coaches to win and not teach lessons...take those time outs Phil!!
- Don't let the Nuggets thugs distract from the game plan.

Oh, and the big one:
- Score more than they do!

Go Lakers!!

And the first contested shot he takes rims off... ;)

I'd like to see Lamar switch it up and take him but it looks like Luke will get a run at hime now. Let's see how that goes.

Ouch so far so good buddy melo made 16 so far past his 14.5 ppg against Lakers.

Melo with a decent quarter, I'll give credit where credit is due...

Come someone in a Laker jersey please gaurd K-Mart. I'd rather he took those shots but I think it's time to start contesting them.

One quarter in the books, 8 point ball game and we're just getting warmed up. I expect to see the defensive pressure stepped up in the next 12 minutes.

Happy with Bynum so far, looking alive, aggressive and confident. =D>

Can Melo keep it up? He's on pace for 40. We had a glimpse of Lamar on him, hope to see more of that.

7-8 for 16 points in the 1st!! still a long way to go in this game, but hopefully Melo can stay half as hot as he is now!!

Melo wont have a good game. History says so ;-)

History also says if you make a post in the Lakers thread then it's a post like that.

I'm not so naiive to think he's going to stink it up everytime he faces us but there is a trend there. He's shooting well tonight and getting nice looks aswell. It's a combination of not being gaurded tightly and being in a good rhythm. Let's see if he can keep it up...

And on the note.... AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!

D Fish with the Tre to close the half!!!

Melo with 20 and the Nuggets down 1, Kobe with 18 and the Lakers up 1. I'll take that... ;)

Hey I said he's struggled in the past... I also gave him props for coming out firing in the first. Pointing that out now is being a little slow off the bat, it's old news.

Not really, just like to reitterate incase anyone didn't realise he has 20 in the 1st half. Your post was at 8 points :)

All good. 12 points later let me just reitterate that we hold the lead at the half. :)

Still anyone's game and Lamar and Gasol need to step it up if we take this win at home. 3 Nuggets in double digits and 1 Laker, it's amazing that we even have the lead to be honest. Bench is doing nicely collectively, the three point shots are falling but we're gonna need more in the second half. Can't rely on the 3 ball against this team when they're not shooting bad outside themselves. Shut em down...
