ESP Elite 2015 Official Thread (Sell Sheet Page 44)

I bought the kids 4 of the power play starter packs and quite literally got the same cards in all 4 starter packs (which s#it me no end!).

The chase cards are laughable.
The whole concept is laughable.
I'll be very interested to see what kind of design they've come up with for these jersey cards / jersey signature cards.
Hopefully they go for a mix of colours and include badges, logos and the like. They could be pretty hard to come by.

Read on Facebook $8 a pack anyone got any more info?

Not confirmed but definitely a price rise. Boxes still to be 24 packs and no packet price on boxes. I am assuming that they will not be as readily available in newsagents this year, might help to keep prices up!

I had a chat with Terry and he mentioned that information about the release is being kept under wraps at the moment.

I had heard a rumour of a August 1 release date but again that is only a rumour.

Cheers
Matt

The prices will be similar to select series 2 cases. Depending on what inserts we get the value might be comparable

With boxes being anywhere between $140 ( $7 per packet ) to $180 ( $8 per packet ) and cases $1400 to $1800 how many will be purchasing this series ???

If the boxes don`t have value for money there will be a lot of unsold stock like 2012 limited ......

It doesn`t matter how good the over all set is if the price is too high or the set is too hard to collect people won`t purchase ....Just like 2015 Traders .....

I really wanted to purchase a case!. But like many others, i will be waiting to see how these are collated and might buy a box or 2 now.

2012 LE was a flop due to packet price and insert selection - those boxes have not held their value, nor have the non-numbered inserts.
2013 Elite was a good set with not too many inserts (great variation, numbered sigs, etc) but was stuffed up by poor distribution of inserts in packets - those boxes have not held their value though, but if you are lucky one box in 5 or so is a really good buy.
2014 Elite was spot on with inserts (except for the double // issue) and their distribution - those boxes have held their value (within $20-40 of retail anyway) and are STILL sought after. Hint, ESP got it right, don't mess with a formula that works.
2013, 2014 and 2015 Traders sets were mongrels to put together (more so '14 and '15) and boxes are really only worth $40-50 now, with the odd box (1 box in 2 or 3 CASES) having a chance of a card worth more than $50.
Hopefully 2015 Elite does NOT go the way of Traders re set size or box value, or regress back towards LE on price. It's not sounding like a winning combination so far though.

I hope the price rise reflects the product then Waz. The hobby could really benefit from a release that is well received

I want Elite to do well.... especially with the rumored game worn content. But if price goes up and value comes down, then it could be a rough one like LE 2012

I really hope not!

I personally think that reducing the availability of the product to newsagents will assist in cards holding value. I have enjoyed the ability for the past two elite releases to go and buy a few packets at a time but it is a double edged sword. So many people were pulling signatures and WCHP and selling them for sweet FA. Hopefully this might assist our dealers in selling more product

I can't figure that logic out. X number of cases are going to be made and the cards are going to have $Y value regardless of how slowly/quickly or widely/restricted their distribution is.

A dealer has the option of buying Z number of cases up front - it's up to them to figure out how much stock they buy to avoid dead inventory a year later.

The hobby is about collectors collecting, not middle men. Personally, I wish there was an option for collectors to deal directly with ESP if they want to order by the case.

Regards
Mike

PS: no offence to anyone, everyone has their place in the hobby

The point I was trying to make was the accessibility of the product to those who don't really collect hurt the hobby.

If the product was only available by the box or case then those who don't collect are unlikely to lay $130+ out.

If they could buy a few packs, jag a higher end hit (there was one in every box in 14 Elite) and flip it for $60 then it killed the overall value.

Signature cards numbered to #130 should not be selling for under $100. I enjoyed the extra availability but for the overall well being of the hobby I think this is a good option for higher end releases.

One in every box? I probably bought a whole boxes worth of loose for no major hit. best i got was 2 m&a

I hated the empty packs, they're a waste of money. At least the golds held some value, especially Souths ones (sadly i was only lucky enough to pull 1).
