Important Ozcards concerns

Been there, done that, know how hard a job it is so have no interest in doing it. People do it for free and all they cop is criticism from people who just like to cause problems. IMO this is the best moderated forum I've been on, and yet all you people are still complaining. There is no pleasing some people, and some people just like to kick up a stink just for the sake of it.

Damn, been away for a day and sh@# hits the fan!

Not gonna comment though as I'm sure I don't have the full story, but damn!

I agree Bargey and I think that's a first!!;)

I would never wanna do the job - for free - and sorting out squabbles can't be fun. We all have lives outside this forum (well except for Jimbo...=D> ) and having to mod a website? - not in my wishlist.

The shitfight with Justdabestcards obviously has history that we don't know about as Hill33 said. None of my business and I'll back their judgement on that.
Yesterday myself and another member had a disagreement and it was debated healthily (sp?) with a mod watching over and finished. No harm done (I don't think) - this is how it should be.

One pt I do agree on is when yze was here - he shoulda been given the flick a bit sooner but no ones perfect.

If for some reason 11 members were made to form a jury and someone gets the arse for something, there will be even more personal clashes b/c there'll be accusations of all sorts ie 'ljandkg voted me off b/c of this...etc'

I think the whole site would disintegrate into a pool of verbal diarhoea.

I can see yr point about heavy handed comments JZA but like I said - there's obvioulsy a history with what happened yesterday....

Just my 2 cents from across the Tasman.

By the way - anyone forget the effort Chad put into organising to help a member in need just a week ago?? That sort of effort is out of this world and has been too quickly forgotten IMO....

I would love to know what the history is??? Can someone give some examples.

Graham....your first comment in this thread was exactly the type of thing most have an issue with.

For the most part i agree with Jezza posts.....

Why would I want to comment when there are a number of keyboard heroes here who pick apart everything that is said ?

I will say this though, to the couple of members who mentioned that the below list of names "funded" this website. The names below show people who donated $10 each to purchase the Vbulletin software. It was a once off cost. Who do you guys think funds this website on an ongoing monthly basis ?? Last month the site used almost 20 gig of bandwidth, and the site takes up almost 800 meg of space. Not small pickings by any stretch of the imagination.

Dont know....just so we know what WE can and cant do....

You ave made 2500 other posts that havent been picked apart??

What does someone have to do if they want to become a donating member?
I have seen other forums that allow members to do this and it shows up under their avatar that they are a donating member.

I think we all need to sit in a big circle hold hands and sing KUMBAYA.
This is a joke, i bet there's people losing sleep over this.:p

I thought the place runs fine as it is, with every single member treating each other with respect and treating others how they would expect to be treated. We (the admins) have a forum where we discuss issues and will make decisions on what we believe is right for the site. If someone steps out of line, we make the decision to warn the person. Normally the person takes it on board, and move on living a happy existence. Some members choose to continue to push the issue and suffer the consequences. If the member contacts a member of the admin team and says "Ok, I was wrong, I won't continue to do what I was doing" then we will consider letting them back in. But some members think they've done nothing wrong, and if they are let back in will just pick up where they left off.

Unfortunately, some members also don't like the fact that I tell it like it is. When I tell you that if you don't like how this place is run, there are plenty more sites out there. It is pretty obvious the truth hurts. There will not be changes, there will not be more mods. There will not be community groups of 11 people voting on issues. I don't know how else to put it, so I tell you straight up, and some people can't handle that.

At this stage there is no need. As the place gets bigger in the future there may be a requirement for it.

I enjoy this place and like the members. Everyone has something to say, whether I or anyone else agrees with it. I hate deleting posts, and will not do it unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary. I don't delete posts because I disagree with someones opinion.

Everyone just needs to use common sense and treat each other with respect and members will not need to be banned.

Probably not my place to comment as I know Chad personally, but I know him well enough to realise that he doesn;t fly off the handle for no reason. I have seen first hand the prodding and poking from justda to Chad's posts and threads...sometimes to my eye they seemed tongue in cheek, but I certainly havent seen them all and as we all know it is almost impossible to read emotion/intention from a typed message.

What I do know is that I have commented (ie. given my opinion) on at least one of justda's replies to a post by Chad (on the 121s forums), and was instantly set upon by justda as some sort of Chad-fan club member. Now I was merely trying to make the point more clearly, and yet my opinion was attacked. I tried searching for the thread as 'evidence', but the task was beyond me.

Now, having said that, I probably lean on the side of the banning being too harsh, but it is not my decision and I know that it is not based on a singular event. Remember that mods aren't qualified judges, just people trying to keep a community from getting out of hand. Any 'jury' that is theoretically formed would also be made up of people who have a connection to the parties involved in one way or another, and this would be just as 'biased' a method of community control as having mods...the norm on all forums that I have been a part of.

Maybe some sort of set of posting rules would be a good idea, and the PM system certainly provides a more personal way to deliver warnings. Not sure really....maybe we are all just having a bad week?

You're all acting like a bunch of children, this thread should be locked and everyone posting in it banned for eternity.

well, we can thank christ your not a mod then hey bargearse. that statement is just too stupid to argue with.

I thought this site is sponsored by PerfectHost.com.au :)
maybe i define 'sponsor' in wrong translation :)

anyway... if you guys are paying extra bandwidth and extra space fees.. that will be a pain... but this hosting is quite reliable, i have never seen any downtime before though...
