ESP NRL Traders 2014 Thread - Checklist Added (Pg 18)!!!

Will the checklist be released the day before the product again?

Not knowing the composition of the set/packing collations etc I pre-purchased:

A few boxes of 2012 Ltd to find that half the boxes had about $15 value AFTER release and many cards were damaged
2013 Traders to find that sigs were 1:6 boxes rather than 1:1 AFTER release and cards were not numbered
6 boxes 2013 Elite to find that only 1:3ish boxes had a signature card (or 2) AFTER release and #1s had been omitted

I will not be pre-purchasing anything this year until I have watched you sacrificial lambs test the waters ;)

Is anyone else gun shy about pre-purchases/case shares this time around or has time healed some wounds?

Checklist out on the day of release so we have been told. The content of the set seems to be a National Security issue in that its tippy top secret.......lol

So is sunshine collectibles just guessing that the common team sets are 12 per team and common set is 198 cards, Cause if i was to prepurchase, and these were different i would be negging him all day

Personally I think they issue the information to who they want to know it , and stuff all the rest . That was the best thing about select , they issued promotional cards and the sell sheet a month before release ...

I know we compare ESP to Select a lot, but what on earth are they trying to achieve by with holding a checklist or box odds until the day of release! Collector's like to know what's coming so they can budget, especially for us people who don't earn a whole great deal of money in a year. At least with Select, I was on a mailing list and had already received a flyer and promo set by now. At the moment, as far as I am aware ESP don't even have a mailing list for collector's. Maybe they should think about setting one up!

It because you have assholes like sportscollectorcards that are determined to discount the product to a point where no one can make money on it.

Dont know if anyone caught his rants on his Elite listings last year but he was promising to exact "revenge" on NRL sellers for refusing to sell him cases last year when he could not get any through his Newsagent contacts. Then he was running around telling anyone who would listen how he was single handedly going to make sure no one made any money on Traders this year.

So thats why we are not getting any info until the release date. ESP are looking after sellers (big and small) and trying to give them a chance against this clown.

So get out and support your local card dealer. Without them the hobby dies.

Or maybe they still don't know what the product's like or weather they are actually going to hit a release date on time !!!
I know I'll be buying off sportscollectorcards if he's selling them at cost , wouldn't anyone with half a brain ..

What's the problem ???, because collectors aren't lining your pockets . All I see is a bit of jealousy maybe !!

Im not a seller so not really.

Personally i prefer to deal with sellers i know and trust. I value the relationship. Im not going to rush out on ebay and deal with someone with horrible feedback just because they can save me a couple bucks.

I thought the whole purpose in business is to grow your business and make a profit? If you aren't making any profit you wont be in business for long.

Sure you can look after your customers with discounts/incentives but selling at cost doesn't do anyone any favours.

I know what the cost price is on Traders 14 and like the other releases from ESP, I will be supporting my local outlet at a price that makes them money on the sale, whilst still being a competitive price.

Cheers
Matt

I am in full agreement with supporting your local dealer ( card dealer that is...)

I love to save $$$ like everyone else and with a young family that is handy but without dealers like Redtorana, GC Cards & Digeze the hobby dies. I am happy to lose that small saving to ensure the local dealer stays in business

I agree Owen that we all should support our card dealers but I don't understand how withholding a sell sheet will be disadvantageous to only people like sportscollectorcards.

I would have thought these actions would be detrimental to all card dealers including the ones we all support here on OCT. I have not pre-ordered any boxes/cases as yet and I am sure there are plenty of people like me waiting to see what we will receive for our hard earned. Because we have not pre-ordered it must be difficult for dealers to order an accurate quantity of stock. If they under order they may lose sales to other dealers. If they over order they may be stuck with unsaleable stock from a crap series. At least if they already had rough quantities they could, to an extent mitigate their risk.

If ESP were confident of their product I don't see why they wouldn't want to advertise and promote their cards and get them moving as soon as the release date hits.

If they were selling any other product they would already be out of business. It is lucky for them there are some "crackheads" amongst us who will do anything for footy cards.

I have to say, I used to like getting an A4 sheet and promo cards in the mail. No offence to ESP...but I'd like that again. But if they can't do it, I can live.

But I used to use the A4 sheet to budget my spending.

And since my oldest son just started school, dollars don't buy as much as they used to either, I'm in a real pickle about what's coming and what I can afford.
