With our lack of sight in managing not to spot these young blokes that have been right under our noses I have to agree. We don't deserve one of them to fall right into our lap. 2 If the Barba rumours come to fruition. But I'll take them.
 
I reckon there is more to it than just family issues. Brisbane and his manager's grubby hands are all over this. If it was just family issues he wouldn't have re-signed with Canberra 6 months ago, which was after his dad's health problems started.

Canberra Raiders CEO Don Furner said the club will wait until the end of the season before they discuss the future of fullback Anthony Milford.

“We acknowledge that we received the request from Anthony’s manager for a release from his current contract and out of respect for Anthony and his family we will wait until the season is over before discussing his future at the club,” Furner said. “We always treat welfare issues of our players seriously and we will meet with Anthony and his manager at the end of the year to avoid distraction as the team prepares for their remaining games of the season and a bid for the finals.”

“We want Anthony with us here at the Raiders long term and we will be doing all we can to keep him at the club and Anthony’s welfare is of the utmost importance to us,” he said. “We have been in negotiations with Anthony to extend his deal and we will wait until the season is over to continue these negotiations.”

Until this time the Raiders have no further comment on the issue.
 
I agree that Milford's manager is very grubby and I would hope that Milford himself is only wanting a release for family reasons as he seems like a good honest kid. I know a few people who played school and junior footy with him and they seem convinced it is for family reasons that he wants out. In saying that the courier mail have had 3 or 4 decent sized articles on him wanting to return to Brisbane and have included quotes from his parents in these articles begging the Raiders to release him. It would not surprise me at all of there are others pulling string to make this happen. Hopefully things work out and he can stay with Canberra as he has huge potential
