The Spurs were fined because it was too early (barely 3 weeks into the season) and they protested about how ruthless their schedule that time. I think it was 4 games in 5 days which every team is doing it during the course of the whole season.
There's probably alot of Spurs fans during that time who thought that it was a good idea to rest those guys in Miami but didn't think of the Miiami fans who actually bought tickets for that game. Now they were put in the same situation. payback is a b!+@#.
It was 7 games in 11 days with the Spurs facing Miami on a back to back. Pretty dumb scheduling for a marquee match up.
I don't think it was payback at all. These two teams are playing mind games IMO.
Maybe Spo is learning how to coach
The Spurs would know if they make the Finals it will be against Miami. The Heat were bound to rest guys soon anyway and they have top spot pretty much locked up anyway. Why play your team at full strength and possibly lose any mental edge?
The real losers are the fans which is a shame, this game to me, was hopefully going to be a finals preview.

Regardless of where it was in the season, fine someone for not playing their players, you should fine the other team for not playing theirs! Clearly shows its not equal for all and Popovich's past disagreements count against him when in comes down to it.

But you can't deny that it is double standards that the Heat don't get penalised in any way. It was never about whether the Spurs reported the injuries or whether they flew home. It was purely about the fact that it was the 2 top teams, playing on the biggest televised stage and Pop made a point to mention the poor scheduling as a reason for doing it!

The Spurs players had injuries when they rested too! If Pop wasn't trying to prove a point, they would have played through them!
I think the Heat beating the Spurs has afforded them to miss another game (vs the Knicks).

Exactly! I am not more disappointed about the loss to the Heat as I am about the loss to Detroit a little while ago!
The problem I have is with Stern! He didn't clearly define the rules, he basically said if you mess with my ratings I will fine you, depending who it is!
