NEW LICENCEE NEW CARD MANUFACTURER

ESP make great sporting memorabilia but sub standard trading cards...... Will be interesting to see what they bring out next year.

I agree with this comment all the ESP cards I have are cheap & nasty - Cricket & Nrl & if they had anything to do with the Cricket captain signature release this year they are RUBBISH. 1st of all the album fell apart in transit damaged the cards & all they did to fix this was stick in pvc pockets & just put the damaged cards back in they couldn't careless. It's all about $$$$ for them. They promised to replace damaged cards & didn't!! The cards are CHEAP & of very POOR quality - not centered & all are cut crocked with dogs legs the last 20mm. I for one will not buy any of there cards until they have been out in the market & everyone has spoken about them & rated there quality.:mad::mad:

SE Products made that cricket captain set not ESP. But you right it is a piece of sh*t. All my cards fell out of the pockets in transit and got dings in the corners.

I guess we will get an idea of what ESP are going to produce later in the year when they release the preview cards.

Lets hope being their last set Select pull out something special for series 2.

Well ESP's Daily Telegraph cards were better quality than the Select ones from 2008 ... not what you'd expect from a premium set of course, but they were fine for what they were.

Totally agree, 2012 Series 2 could well be the last set of NRL cards I collect.

any chance of esp hiring select as like a sub contractor to produce the set ? as im thinking this will be my last set as well. i actually liked select.

Just googled GU cards - Game Used item. I can't see them doing that as it will be to expensive in the 1st 2-3 years

I wouldn't assume they would release GU in their first year. If or when they do, I hope it is actual NRL GU and not photo shoot worn/ event/ training.

Why on earth would game used be more expensive in their first few years than any other year?

They definitely need game used straight away - imagine the excitement and interest it would generate in the release!

I love how everyone's bagging ESP already for a cricket series from 2003, anyway. At least see what they release first!

I'm not a fan of GU cards. I mean if there was a Raiders one out there I'd be keen for it but I'm keen on any Raiders card. I just think the ones I've seen from other sports the cards don't look all that good but if it got more people into collecting & therefor trading it would be a good thing

because certain people who get favours from select are filthy they wont get the same from ESP

We can only dream about such things as GU cards (jerseys, shorts, socks??). Only been attempted once by Select, don't know why they abandoned the idea? Need more brain-storming in these pages so the people making the calls do up the ante. Rookies have been hammered in recent sets, not complaining but lets move on. What about Kangaroos, Origin, some blasts from the past. What about stat cards (tacklers, hit-ups, line breaks, metre eaters, kickers). As well as (or instead of) medal cards or club players - what about try of the year, season highlights etc. Been done before but not for a long time, beats Mascot Gems & parallel sets.
