Not sure if its my worst investment but i Bought a Latrell Sprewell Hoops RC (still in pristine condition) as he was sick as a youngster for i think about $20.
I've seen it come up on ebay occasionally and sell for about $5.
Its still one of my favourite cards though.
My worst investment was the set of UD Ultimate Patches just last year. Thought $800 for 59 cards was a decent price, and I should be able to get good money for them, and even $10 for each of the commons...
Well I just sold the Kobe on ebay for $46, so that leaves Lebron and MJ to get $500? Not gonna happen... can't even move the MJ... might PC the Lebron.
I did however have a good collection of David Boston from the NFL when I was living in England. Bought up all these awesome cards, then he had an awesome season, I sold them all, then like two years later he's a nobody out of the league because of drugs etc...
My mate... poor fool... collected Joe Smith, Antoine Walker and then Shawn Marion. All absolutely worthless players now...
Yeah whats up with that dude? which is he african american, native american, white guy or a mixture of all three im still trying to work it out also I think he needs a hair cut it is 2010 not 1969
the worst buy i have done was on boxes not individual cards, before i knew about the buying on the net i bought 2 boxes of 05 topps pristine for $270 each from cardzone.... and got rubbish, best upgrades i did was a base 98-99 hoops mj for a kobe rookie headline (mate loved mj), and i traded a dana barros autographics for a iverson nba at 50 rc and a allen fleer rc, by theway i have that ud cc gold eric montross rc if anyone is interested....hahahaha
Reading through all this, it is clear why i do not pick up stuff for investment, but rather the enjoyment of collecting what I like and participating in the hobby with people.
Still, some of my side collections really make me cringe, if it was about $$$$$$ thats for sure. I think just about all of them would fetch less than what I shelled out to get them.
Nah, I don't think I've really bought much at all for investment...maybe my Ronnie BRewers, which failed, but even that had an interest/attachment to it rather than straight out money.
