WHY ARE MEMBERS SELLING THEIR COLLECTION

I know the batman one he had last year was player issue and sold for a mint.... Had it been player worn I would have thrown thousands at it..... This years superman ones were player worn and The Nerd is me is still kicking itself for not having a spare $3k to get it!!

I am a huge nrl fan. And a huge superman fan...... The only other player worn I want is a slater or a smith..... What better jersey??!

Believe me... I considered selling my all my llbs just to get the $$$$! Lol.

there player issue again, well thats what it says and there still selling for a mint ahaha

I wonder why they don't sell game worn ones? Not like they'll ever use those ones again.

Mind you, at those prices, I guess they don't have to!

most of the players probably want to keep them i guess. but the other clubs wear one the first half and another one the 2nd half so players can keep one and auction the other so not sure why the storm cant

Ah the old player issue again.... Glad I kept my llbs.. Lol!!

I know they've had a few player worn ones auctioned off and they fetch the same amount as the unworn ones..

Slaters Batman stated it was unworn.... (He didn't play that game)... All the others had worn and washed in their description..

Sometimes I think their "vagueness" is why they make so much money off their auctions.

If they stated. "Player Cut Unworn Signed Jersey" they wouldn't get as much. It's deceptive at best.

Although I read somewhere they were auctioning off the actual player worn superman jerseys...... Cam Smiths would be the one to get if they did.... It was his 250th game!

well there shooting themselves in the foot by listing them like that.

smith would be the pick of the crop. 250th game !!! :0

goodluck if you decide to go for it.also goldcoastcards has the 002 cowboys black if your after it.

I started selling all my cards etc except for the Eels stuff a few years back to focus on my Eels collection and i must say it got quite big, but when work was cut to less than half my hours and we were all put on casual things financially got tight and after a while we had spent what savings we had on LIFE... then when my car blew up and a few other little things that molded into one big thing i just had accept the fact i had to sell the eels collection.....i bit the bullet and done it, i also have to say before all that came to the fore the ESP debacle has also tainted it all for me and a lot of others as well with their (in my opinion) lack of respect for the hobby and the sport they also seem to have a foot hold on this site too which has dampened the community feel we had here once before and with the ESP police criticising anyone who didnt like their product also has an affect on collectors.......anyway that is why i started selling of my stuff and i hope one day i can get it all back :)

I have stopped collecting most of the new stuff but like to open a box for the fun of it .. but more disappointment there unfortunately
I still love collecting my old scanlens stuff and have sets from 1975-1982 which I love ... also have some of the Ardmona cards unopened .. just collect for the nostalgia not the money

Card companies need to keep it simple, don't bring massive amounts of inserts and sigs that make it unreasonable for the average collector to ascertain them all and not pull a Dynamic and devalue our collections by selling inserts under the table!

I stopped collecting back in 2000 because it was getting way too expensive and there wasn't as many outlets to trade at that time as there was back in 1994 to 1996. I am sad to sell my collections but the decision wasn't a hard one to make as the love I had for rugby league is gone and card collecting isn't as fun as it used to be (for me)! I am hoping to use the cash from the sale of my card collections and other items to take my mother back to Brazil next year, during the World Cup, as she hasn't visited her country since moving to Australia. Never the less, I reminisce about the thrill of collecting and cracking open the odd box and understand why a lot of collectors are selling up their sets too.

The funs still there for me but I found collecting everything was all to consuming at times, that plus all the holes in my St George PC collection are high end cards which if I collect everything I will never fill, the cash I am getting from the sales goes straight back into my PC in the form of all different sorts of memorabilia not just cards.

I get the most enjoyment out of collecting my team and like a few of us oldies still dabble in the Scanlen's cards for nostalgia.

No luck on the club card front, have ticked off a few higher end & limited release stuff but can't find any of the club stuff. I think most of it must be tucked away in fellow Dragon supporters PCs, never to see the light of day. I suppose its the the thrill of the hunt.....not collecting 2013 Elite means I am cashed up and ready for when they become available though.

After this latest news that ESP are keeping all the number ones ala Select, plus their decision to not make the 1:72 cards one per box, I'm tempted to at least give up getting anything new from here in. If not sell - the Knights pc could probably finish off my house deposit savings.

These companies just suck the enjoyment and enthusiasm out of it, through stupid decisions that make the collectors feel like an idiot for wasting money on the hobby.
