Then there's the everlasting over-inflation of prices to specific collectors JUST because they collect that item/person/team/etc.
Yeh that was the pet peeve I said in the first reply to this thread.
It happens to me with Kobe, where they'll offer me a card for say $200. When I reject they sell it in a sale thread for $150... Wtf?
And Longleys are the same for me too recently.
I think the 3 Longley collectors in the world, drive up stupid prices for Longleys cos we compete against each other and dont know when we'll see another one.
But guess what people, after the first 3 are sold, watch the price drop by 70%... It is only Longley after all
Honestly, unless it's something for a PC and there is no price listed I pretty much don't bother these days. The other part is those that ask for a best price you can do, or a bulk price and then don't reply. Least you can do is say you'll pass so that I can keep them available for others rather than wait in limbo.

Guilty of this with Korver...I think the 1st #/10 Signatures Film on eBay I won for $31...the last 1 that sold went for about $2If only I could tell myself that I WILL see another...
thought $31 was cheap
I dislike non-PM replies, so I try to reply to everyone asap.
Me too!
$2 for a auto /10? Just goes to show that the number of sets/parallels have got out of hand.
Yeah it really has. I think I made the comment in a mailday the other week, everything is a rainbow hunt now it seems. Which I guess creates the desire to collect, the competition to keep card values up for the most part as long as the player is a desired player (which Korver generally isn't so I'm lucky), and so the market for cards remains strong due to the desire to complete the rainbow. Who knows how to fix that thoughAnd us suckers keep going back!
Im of the other school of thought. If I pull a card of your PC player, and I decide to pm you about. I will always offer it for less than the lowest ebay sale, and tell you to keep me in mind if you ever pull a Kobe/Longley I need.
Thats what makes this site great.
I had almost the exact same thing happen to me not long ago, i told the seller to take the crazy offer they had apparently recieved (it's easy for me to call this bluff, who else is collecting high end gallinari?). Seller quickly 180'd and accepted my (incredibly reasonable) offer. But not without dragging it out and trying to make me feel like they had done me a huge favour. It was all a bit of a joke to be honest.I want to add to mine gripe with this:
When someone says they have a card of your PC player and make an offer. You offer a very fair price, and you get countered with 3 times your original offer, as apparently that matches multiple other offers they have gotten on it. After telling them they should accept the other offer and run, it then appears for sale 10% higher than your offer elsewhere a fortnight later from the same owner.
The hobby has was too many profiteers these days, its not cool.

These guys that just want to make money astound me, the supposedly PC only the top players, kobe, lebron, kyrie durant etc. and I think that in the end, they're the only players that they know in the league at all cos that's where the money is. What is the point? There are a lot better ways of gambling your money if all you are looking for is the pay day
