so, im just wondering what you guys would do in this situation:
contacted a new(ish) member about some cards i wanted off him. tried to overcharge me (in my opinion) on all of the ones i wanted. finally agreed on a price for two cards, then in the message sent to me afterwards, giving me the paypal address he tells me it has to be a gift. was only a small deal, so no biggie, but against site rules, no?
paid $2.50 for post ($1.50 postage, $1 bubble mailer) but cards weren'y sent in a bubble mailer. overcharged.
then obviously the big one. cards werent sent in a bubble mailer. sent between two large pieces of cardboard which were then covered in sticky tape. cards were not damaged.
i dont really like leaving bad feedback, let alone negative, so thought id ask what others would do?

So it was sent in a white envelope? If so 2 site rules already broken, it's plastered all over the boards how to send them. You don't "miss" seeing them, you CHOOSE not too! It's even in the banner!
NEG in hope they don't do it again, use ignorance or "i am new to this" as an excuse and it doesn't happen to no one else!
There was a flashing banner underneath your post... if you break the rules (ie no bubble mailer) you get a neg. What type of envelope did it come in?
I guess if they were a collector, then how would they feel if they received their cards in that way. What was their response?
I'm only new to the site and i have just done a trade with another member. I read the forum rules before i sent and lucky i did. I sent the card in a top loader then two bits of card taped up really well and then a bubble envelope. Maybe i went over the top but i got a card the other day from ebay and the card was just thrown into a white envelope.
okay, let me be blunt.
NEG him. NEG him a thousand times.
it does not matter if the card is worth $1 or $100, every collector knows how card should be sent.
the ones that dont are just complete tossers.
it also does not matter if the card was damaged or not.
he run the risk of sending it an envelope, wait, not ****ing envelope !
NEG him and i'd be asking for my shipping charges back.
was the deal thru here or ebay?
if it were here, i know everyone skips over it, but in each and every deal thread that is created a post is automatically made stating 'the rules'
READ THE ****ING THINGS.
sorry, i can stand this.
especially after charging for a bubble mailer, and toploaders.
your in a card hobby - penny sleeves, bubble mailers and toploaders are as important as the cards.
sorry, i just recieved a pretty decent card that was damaged after being sent in a PWE.
end rant.
no envelope !?!?!?!?!!!! that's pretty piss poor and the clearest case for a negative I've seen in age. Hopefully said member will get the hint and next time spend the effort to post things properly
Dont take this the wrong way but why didnt you contact him first and try to remedy this without outing him on the boards?
the deal was through this site unfortunately.
seems like we have a consensus then.
im just a little worried that if i leave him a neg, he'll do the same to me, since he hasnt bothered leaving me feedback yet. am i covered (by mods or something) if he does?
the funniest part is that he sent me a message a few days ago asking me to be sure to 'leave me great feedback' once the cards arrive.

no envelope, but to be honest the thickness and size of the cardboard and the way he taped it all up was probably better than a white envelope. no excuse tho i know.
but didnt i read that its got more to do with the way they sort the envelopes at the post? bubble mailers dont go through the same process so are safer from damage?
